Very good initiative, brother.
I'll add my two cents in terms of testimonials of my experiences and some advice with practices I have tried for at least a few days. I'll drop more as I try them, and I'll likely end up posting 40 day testimonials for them as well.
IMPORTANT:
Kundalini Yoga is the highest Tantric art, and acts best as a Ritual. Energy is pooled and directed throughout the practices, and a set utilizing all kinds of practices will generate a gigantic homogenous effect and manifestation. It is best to use these practices grouped up in one big session, aimed at a general goal (as most KY practices do many things), for a set amount of days.
Studying the list of practices on PinkLotus (and outside of it, for when you want to delve deeper) in order to design a set of practices and put them in the right order for a good flow is an art and a practice by itself, should be done patiently.
That being said, you can absolutely try most of these practices by themselves, or in groups of 2-3, or one every now and then at random times throughout the day, before deciding on a routine to follow. This alone will have many benefits if done safely.
Yoga is incredibly natural. It is the human body and mind acting in its most natural way, and should feel "right" and pleasant, as well as exciting.
Doing a practice here and there when you are curious will build excitement, and by discovering the benefits of these practices, which are often immediately noticeable, you will gain the necessary excitement to diligently follow a 40/90/365 etc. day routine.
TESTIMONIALS
Kundalini Yoga for connecting with your source of infinite energy
This is a powerful Kriya that raises energy in the Solar Chakra and Third Eye, circulating it. If you feel energy, you will mostly fill the energy pooling into the Solar Chakra and radiating out of it into the body, however the Third Eye is absolutely involved in balancing and receiving this energy, albeit more subtly.
Mudras are misunderstood by some, and also underrated by many. They are very powerful, but might be hard to feel. This position uses the Surya Mudra on the right hand in order to raise the energy and emanate it, and Gyan mudra pointed upwards opens one up to energy through the Third Eye.
Har as a mantra works fine here, however I have also experimented with ZIN and ZEV and had good results with both. ZIN means life.
ZIN I felt helps moreso for physical endeavors, while Zev helps with spiritual ones. It depends on what you are trying to do during your routine incorporating this practice.
Keeping rounds here around 8-12 abdominal pumps per breath hold is fine, you can then increase the amount of rounds. I'd start around 3-5, this is plenty whether or not you can feel the energy. It is there, rest assured. Mudras are not to be overused. The last breath hold, of "108" can also be 8-12 and increase over time, do it without holding the mudras.
Kundalini Yoga for Elevation
This set of Kriyas is not too different to the Basic Spinal Series, but it has some key modifications to focus more on a gentle rising of the energy that stimulates all (but especially the upper) Chakras, whereas the Basic Spinal Series is more rudimentary in terms of establishing a flow of energy up the spine and out the crown.
If you're not the type to want a lot of change and experimenting, you can start this as a practice once you have done the Basic Spinal Series for 40 days.
This is also a key practice to include in more hardcore or strenuous Kundalini routines, it primes energy circulation in a way that is not taxing to the system.
If everything goes well, you should feel energy pooled up and already energizing you by step 6, at which point the very well designed steps allow you to guide and circulate it until step 9, at which point the energy buzz should usually fully set in.
The modified Sat Kriya is also much gentler.
Kundalini Yoga for the lungs, magnetic field and deep meditation
This is a very good set of Kriyas to use in your routine if you are trying to improve things related to the Aura. (feeling it more, allowing it to hold more energy, using it more efficiently for workings and meditations, etc.)
It stimulates the Throat Chakra and the general head area as well.
The effects mentioned on the site are certainly there, the aura allows for a meditative state to happen. What also happens here is that the asanas used raise energy above the Heart and solve various issues or imbalances that the Throat and 6th Chakra might have. It brings the upper Chakras into alignment so the aura can be balanced and meditation can happen.
Ungali Pranayama
This is, and feels like, an advanced pranayama. If you are not very experienced, do not do more than 2 sessions of it per week, and absolutely watch the rounds you are doing.
The advice on the site of doing 3 minutes and going up from there is for individuals that don't have subtle bodies and don't know how to handle energy.
3 minutes could be far too much for many Zevists.
3-5 rounds of this as an experiment is fine, 5-10 rounds if you know what you are doing and have enough experience, if introduced in your routine.
This breathwork is of a very high level and grants a massive amount of benefits, but a direct result from this is opening the Nadis.
The segmented breathing method with this number structure and utilizing the Satanama mantra establishes a direct connection to all the Nadis and opens them individually.
It balances the Ida and Pigala and HIGHLY stimulates the Sushumna (if you are raising high energy with this, you will feel a sort of vibration in your spinal column as you breathe).
It is certainly a difficult practice, but if you have the experience needed, it would be a very good idea to start practicing this and getting slightly better every time.
KY Meditation for Energy and Relaxation of the Nerves
1 full minute of the breath is not required if you are able to feel energy being raised after a few breaths. You can progress this over time.
I find it is good to add towards the end of an intense routine in order to gently raise energy through the crown, and to stimulate the Solar Chakra in a gentle way.
For the last step, "unite with the Universal current" means to feel the infinite energy being generated by your Solar 666 Chakra.
"Energy that is drawn from the navel is that given by the mother, and not paid back. Use nourishing channels of the navel as when in the womb."
Here, Yogi Bhajan is speaking in allegory about the energy of the Solar Chakra.
