The dedication ritual

Umm..Hi, I'm fairly new here, and in need of a little help about the soul dedication ritual, if it is not of any trouble.

So uh... Basically, I'm not someone spiritually gifted, and since I'm studying overseas, my finances, knowledge-of-area, language and privacy is a bit limited, thus I had to substitute some stuffs with the closest I could find.
Plus, I'm not living on my own, so I had to perform it outside of the apartment.

1.I couldn't find plain colored candle, and the only red colored candle I could find is strawberry-scented.

2.I don't have a dry pen so I used a normal pen. I managed to squeeze out enough blood to write my full name on the paper.

3.My paper was only a palm-sized note paper, and since I was afraid the fire light or the smoke (and the smell) might attract people, I blew the candle out. Most of the paper were burnt but a small piece of it wasn't.

Can anybody tell me whether this ritual is valid or, I have to redo it? And if you would, please give me advices!

When you do the ritual does it matter at all if at some point you got up and moved for something or anything like that, does it affect how the ritual works or make it invalid in anyway.
