I know the Egyptian gods were often shown in hieroglyphics holding staffs and some magicians use them to direct energy in ritual (which makes them similiar to a wand). Is there another purpose for staffs in ritual magic, especially where covens are concerned? If so how? And if there isn't why were so many Eqyptian gods pictured holding them so prominently?

One of the original runic staffs was know as the Nidstang pole.
The Nidstang was a pole that they carved powerful curses in rune on.
It was called the nidstang because they placed a horses scull on the
Top. Then they would stab it into the ground facing the direction of the one they were cursing.

It was sad that the pole caused evil spirits to attack the ground that
The enemy's house and land was on destroying all of the prana in the ground and rendering the land totally dead.

From what I have studied, the hieroglyphics and such are powerful spiritual messages. The staves AND wands symbolize the spine, and represent the element of fire and the kundalini serpent. The serpent is the epitome of spiritual enlightenment and power. The serpent energy is what is used and directed in ritual. On a lesser level, those who have not brought up their serpent CAN and DO perform effective magick, using the life-force, which is of the element of fire. Anyone who has condensed his/her life force knows from experience just how burning hot this can be in contrast to the coldness of death.

In addition, there are many images of the Gods with the serpent emerging from their third eye. This is symbolic of using the vril/witchpower/kundalini serpent, where if you are experienced in this, you will know and feel how with many workings, your intent and energy will emerge from your third eye.

<td val[/IMG]the staff represents the human spine and sckull which is where the chakras and spiritual gateways of power are, the spiritual leader would try and let the people think he alone held the spiritual power to the almighty.keeping thier attention on the external instead of thier own internal power HAIL FATHER
