I want to drop a line to introduce myself to everybody. I've been reading through the material on the Joy of Satan website and am seriously considering taking the leap. I guess the only thing really holding me back is the bad experiences I've had with religion in the past (ex-Christian). I have to agree that the Abrahamic faiths have got to be one of the greatest evils unleashed on mankind and it'd be for the best if they never existed. I guess the problem lies in the leap of faith it seems to take to dedicate yourself to Satan. I certainly mean no offense, but it seems to me that one must just take everything you guys claim on faith before you can see if it's really true or not. It reminds me a lot of Christian thinking (again, no offense intended). I'm interested in the truth and nothing more or less. If there's anything anyone can do to help through this sorting process, I'd greatly appreciate your feedback and impressions. Thank you in advance for your time!

No, actually nobody said that you have to dedicate immediately if you're not sure. That has to be done only if you're sure. Just to clarify to you, the dedication doesn't give to you extra instant experiences. It's a common misconception people have. Most of the empowerment and awakening comes through the practices, especially daily power meditation. A Satanist should meditate every day, otherwise he's the same as an outsider.

Keep learning Adam, be patient.
Make sure you have no reservations.

Now when you say, "take everything on faith"......no you cannot. You have to KNOW that its true. This isn't fairy tale.

i feel as though i understand what he means by "take everything on faith" especially when coming from a non magickal background... i do not like the term however but the Knowing comes later for some of us we must do our dedication and begin a power meditation program "on faith" for lack of a better term... a few days in that knowing replaces the so called faith wgere as in xian based programs the faith is always faith there will never be any knowing...
in conclusion i was raised xian until i turned my back on god and went searching into many religions and paths that used some form of Magick or another... so when i found JoS it rang true on a level in my Soul that i have never experienced before...
I do not in any way shape or form like the word "Faith" it reeks of xian corruption but alas the english language sucks so i am able to see how it may apply for a short time...
Ultimately we as SS are the Elite Chosen by Father to further his aims on Earth as we wait for the return of him and the other Gods we KNOW our path is the truth we KNOW our ways are right... but in the beginning we must pull away from the corruption in a fashion that makes the transition easier.... the word faith has many uses once we get rid of the xian version of "Blind Faith" we question everything we learn everything and Father is ACTUALLY here (astrally) to help us as we progree...

It's not true though as I explained in my reply in this thread. Adam seems to believe that you have to dedicate yourself first in order to get some experiences. The part about taking on faith has to do with this assumption of his, and I don't blame him because this misconception is popular. Many people believe that you must rush the dedication as the first thing to do (which like I said doesn't bring you extra experiences you didn't have, only if you are psychically open), and that it's the most important to do in order to experience things. Which is not the case (power meditation is the most important and the basis for all experiences).

so its the Power Meditations that bring ecperiences... but still as a beginner wouldnt you need atleast a faith in yourself and understanding of the material to hold you over as you begin to experience the things we discuss on the group...
again i reiterate the word "faith" is a horrible word imo but the only one i know to even give a slight depiction of the meaning im trying to convey

Yes, I agree, but I put that in context of what Adam meant, he was talking about the dedication ritual. Not only power meditations give you experiences, but other things too, like many of us feel the Satanic energy after standard rituals.

Faith is not a bad word, it's the xians who twisted it to mean believing something that isn't real who made it bad.

It's good to see so much understanding among you. And I hated using the word "faith" too because of its negatively twisted connotations, but I didn't know how else to put it. I visit the JoS website every day since I found it and read the materials and it does have a way of drawing you in and getting your attention, I will say that. :) Anyways, thank you all for your understanding and I certainly will continue studying and reflecting (maybe even give the power meditations a try). I've been searching for years and certainly hope that search is over.
