Just thought I'd write a simple tutorial on how to stop your parents from viewing things you access online or do on the computer.
First of all, you need a USB stick or write-able CD. Once you have this, download this file: http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/download.html, it's an operating system called Damn Small Linux.
If you have a USB Stick:
Once the download has finished, open the iso image and copy the contents onto the USB.
If you have a write-able CD:
Open the file you downloaded and copy the contents onto the disk drive, this is normally the D:\ drive, you access this by click Start - My computer. Once this is done a pop-up should appear at the bottom right hand side of your screen that says "You have files waiting to be written to disk", right click on the disk drive and select "Right these files to CD". Once it finishes writing the disk, you're almost done!
Newer BIOS Boot Menu (USB):
Many newer computers detect the USB device as a hard drive (USB-HDD0). In which case, you can press a specific key (F2, F10, F11 or ESC) during system post to access the "Boot Menu". Select your USB DISK from the Boot Menu and resume startup.
Older BIOS Setup method(USB):
If your system is a bit older or uses a simplified BIOS, you may not have a Boot Menu option. In this case you will need to make the system detect and boot your USB device by changing the settings in the BIOS.
BIOS boot from CD:
press a specific key (F2, F10, F11 or ESC) during system post to access the "Boot Menu". now you will be in the BIOS, choose the BOOT option and choose Boot Device Priority and choose first boot device to CDROM and second boot device to HARD DRIVE.
Once all this is done your PC will boot up from the new operating system, ANYTHING your parents use to monitor you will never get run, no data will be saved on the hard drive (Unless you save data on the hard drive of course), Should allow you to do whatever you want without your parents knowledge, this may seem complex but it's really easy - You can do this on any computer, including school computers. You can also use it to bypass passwords on peoples computers to gain access to their data, but you should only do that with their consent
*Notes: This tutorial should cover most ocmputers, your computer may be diffrent, but anyone with a reasonable brain should be able to figure it out. Common sense will always prevail when working with computers.
