Asclepius, as we know, is now a God, but has also walked this Earth.

He brought us, with his presence, staggering reform in terms of spiritual knowledge. In his field of medicine, yes, but also in others.

I will leave here some of these, properly sourced, they are open to discussion and to be added to.

Hail Asclepius!

1. "Disease does not come from the Gods."

This can be seen in the Corpus Hermeticum, but also more directly in the work De Naturalibus Facultatibus, by Galen.
Asclepius set forth the idea that the people had been superstitious, and misinterpreted the myths of Apollo or Zeus sending plagues upon people to mean that all disease comes from the Gods.

Naturally, the Gods may punish if they see fit, but disease, as Asclepius puts it, is a natural factor of nature, that the Gods only passively allow, to teach us to evolve beyond it, not one that they deliver to us actively.

2. "The soul can fall ill as well, and affect the body."

This does not have a direct quote by a historian, but it is still contained in the Corpus Hermeticum, and can be seen in the Asclepian (and later, Hippocratic) approach to medicine.
Asclepius set forth a change that states that the soul's condition can affect the body's, and the two are not separated.

Through Ethical understanding of life and moderation, through a virtuous existence, one can not only treat disease, but avoid it.

3. "True healing requires permanent change, especially inner."

Seen once again reflected in the development of medicine in the Hellenistic principle, this stood as a key principle that praxis was based on.

The old idea of disease was far more simplistic. "The natural state of the body is health, so a temporary divergence into disease should be treated with something temporary".
Asclepius argued the opposite. If you developed an illness, it is not due to something you have done that very day, but might just be a symptom of an unhealthy lifestyle, in which case one is truly healed once the lifestyle changes.
