This is a complaint. Valid or not; decide for yourself.

Allthough first - some highly deserved praise!
My personal belief is that Joy of Satan is one of the most spiritually enlightened communities in the world. The information and theses provided are incredibly accurate, the philosophy can withstand any type or form of scrutiny and the leaders are highly intelligent and spiritually evolved. BUT. This is sadly not the case with most of the members.

This yahoo group is really getting on my nerves. In the last month I have been notified about approximately 1,000 posts. I've probably read about 50% or so. The topics vary from a few really good ones (like the one concerning the tarot), to (in about 90% of the cases studied) mindless, self-praising, ignorant bullshit (like posts of the kind about various norwegian BM bands, is eminem a jew? and so on and so on). Ignorant members of this community is spewing out bullshit in manner which can only be compared to producers of american sit-coms.

All of this bullshit serves one purpose, and one purpose only: to distract adepts and those honestly interested in the philosophy from core values. I, for one, will no longer be a part of this community if certain members do not stop the spamming of this group right now. I have written some essays which might be interesting and valuable for some, if not many, but I am witholding these until this madness comes to an end.

Please do not let this community become a hype for aggresive, ignorant teenagers. Their memberships are not needed, nor is their input on manners of the occult.

With all this being said, The High Priestess and others are doing an excellent job worthy of praise. Please do not let their hard work be thrown down the toilet by these mindless sheep.

So people, from now on I urge you to think about it for quite some time before posting anything in this forum, so that we can let this community become what it potentially could be - the most sought-after intellectual occult forum in the world! Ignorant members of this community is spewing out bullshit in manner which can only be compared to producers of american sit-coms.

All of this bullshit serves one purpose, and one purpose only: to distract adepts and those honestly interested in the philosophy from core values. I, for one, will no longer be a part of this community if certain members do not stop the spamming of this group right now. I have written some essays which might be interesting and valuable for some, if not many, but I am witholding these until this madness comes to an end.

Please do not let this community become a hype for aggresive, ignorant teenagers. Their memberships are not needed, nor is their input on manners of the occult.

I agree as well, something else I'm tried of is when someone comes on here asking where something is on the J.o.S website rather than looking for themselves. Maybe there should be another J.o.S group titled "other topics" or somthing along those lines, because we all know these annoying posts won't go away. Atleast this way the people who want to talk about things unrelated to satanism can do so, and we won't have to deal with it as much. Just a thought

That sounds like a really good idea! I noticed that for almost two whole days after my message was written there was almost complete silence in this group. Then people started worrying and probably complained about nothing being said and that their bullshit wasn't being heard. This, to me, proves that this group is more about social networking for frustrated teenagers and talking about non-intellectual bullshit than it is about praising Lucifer and exchanging philosophical thoughts and occult knowledge. This again makes me wonder about the seriousness of it all. I give this group one more week, and if nothing has changed by then - I'm out. I'd rather work alone than with a bunch of quasi-intellectual social misfits.

Agreed. At least in principle. I've been around for approx. 5 years. And I have learned things from the group and hope I've also contributed something of value, but wading through a sea of nonsense posts does get tiring. I don't mind newbie questions; we were all there once; it's the other silliness: "Is emenem a jew?" "How can I get a demon to make love to me?" etc. that are so irksome, along with a steadfast refusal, as kvnfidler mentioned, to take some initiative and attempt to look things up. If they still can't find an answer and/or need some clarification, fine, then raise the point. This isn't an easy path: the lazy can't possibly last. (End of rant)

A while ago this forum got hacked, Rev Lucius left and other things happened. messages were going straight to post without moderating. It became full of stupid, banal subjects. I left. I have come back to check on any progress but it seems none is being made. People are too lazy to read the website properly and post inane questions, always the same topics, sometimes a few days apart. I joined the advanced meditation group to try and get some sensible, grown up conversation but it, too, has people posting who are not any where near advanced judging from the quality of their posts and questions. I have kept studying, progressing and following my path alone, except for the guidance of my guardian demon. Maybe there should be an Invitation Only board for serious, advanced, genuine, dedicated JoS.

This yahoo group is really getting on my nerves. In the last month I have been notified about approximately 1,000 posts. I've probably read about 50% or so. The topics vary from a few really good ones (like the one concerning the tarot), to (in about 90% of the cases studied) mindless, self-praising, ignorant bullshit (like posts of the kind about various norwegian BM bands, is eminem a jew? and so on and so on). Ignorant members of this community is spewing out bullshit in manner which can only be compared to producers of american sit-coms.

All of this bullshit serves one purpose, and one purpose only: to distract adepts and those honestly interested in the philosophy from core values. I, for one, will no longer be a part of this community if certain members do not stop the spamming of this group right now. I have written some essays which might be interesting and valuable for some, if not many, but I am witholding these until this madness comes to an end.

The other thing to consider is that some level of humour and "friendly association" with each other through thrivialities is the only "Friendly association" some younger or more socially removed members, even though religiously surrounded may maintain.

I agree that some posts should not even be replied to, I myself contributed to the Eminem question, perhaps to share an opinion on something else? Perhaps to get myself heard, to "Friendly Associates".....

We should not place ourselves in Judgement of each other, but should discourage with friendship from triviality in order to share more Fruitful Knowledge.

I'd call your point valid enough. If you have an issue with post volume as well as content, I've found an option that lets you receive JOS posts in a sort of group digest rather than individually. I can't remember exactly where I found this option, but it has certainly made it easier to weed out the crap (at least one post of which I am guilty of producing). I'm sure with a little clicking about you'll find it.

All of this bullshit serves one purpose, and one purpose only: to distract adepts and those honestly interested in the philosophy from core values. I, for one, will no longer be a part of this community if certain members do not stop the spamming of this group right now. I have written some essays which might be interesting and valuable for some, if not many, but I am witholding these until this madness comes to an end.

Please do not let this community become a hype for aggresive, ignorant teenagers. Their memberships are not needed, nor is their input on manners of the occult.

With all this being said, The High Priestess and others are doing an excellent job worthy of praise. Please do not let their hard work be thrown down the toilet by these mindless sheep.

So people, from now on I urge you to think about it for quite some time before posting anything in this forum, so that we can let this community become what it potentially could be - the most sought-after intellectual occult forum in the world! I agree. I mean, I don't mind a few off topic posts every now and then. Maybe someone saw a movie they liked or wants to talk about music or whatever, that doesn't really bother me (as long as there is a balance). But the amount of people that post something completely retarded (like Eminem being a jew) has grown to an unacceptable level. Plus, I'm all for us being noob friendly...but there comes a time when people just need to learn to seek the answers themselves. There was a time when I would try and help newer members, it always followed the same pattern. They ask a question, I go on the website, find the answer then cut and paste the answer. I've pretty much given up on that however, if people lack the initiative to go and seek out the truth then they are incapable of being true Satanists.

I think the heart of the problem is that it isn't clearly defined that being a Satanist requires far more than calling one's self a Satanist. This is not a "lazy religion" like xtianity where one gives their soul over to jesus and considers themselves "saved" and "enlightened" just by swearing a mere allegiance. Many would-be Satanists take this same attitude and figure since they have dedicated their souls they are now Satanists. Satanism requires persistent meditation and study, a true Satanist is always looking to better himself in some way. To me a Satanist is more than an adherent of a mere religion, it is an ideal.

Questions are great if one is truly seeking answers about esoteric knowledge. This knowledge has been hidden for countless centuries and we must communicate what we have uncovered with one another. But a Satanist's first response shouldn't be to ask for help. One who truly has a Satanic instinct will always try to solve problems themselves, not try and see if someone has a spell to keep monkeys out of their home. Also, Satanists are self-sufficient...we have no need to emotionally attach ourselves to another. Such attachments may be beneficial and pleasurable, but one who is incapable of functioning unless their existence is validated through another should be seen as weak and pathetic. To put it simply, STOP ASKING FOR LOVE SPELLS! There are love spells on the JOS website and all over the internet, learn to use google, seriously it isn't that difficult. This may be an unfair assumption, but whenever I see someone come in to ask about a love spell all I see is another pathetic adolescent who is incapable of impressing the opposite gender and thinks Satan is going to help them lose their virginity (as if Satan would give a shit!) In fact, I think it may be accurate to assume that many members are merely weak individuals who are looking for a group that will accept them so they can throw a blanket over their own insecurities.

I'm not saying all teenage members are bad, or that all new people are idiots. You can be in High School and be seriously interested about spiritual advancement, but I see far too many who are trying to feed their weak urge to fit in and conform. They are too socially inept to do this in mainstream society, so they hope they can achieve acceptance here. Herd Conformity is NOT a Satanic virtue; it is a sin if there ever were such a thing!

Should there be a new group? Perhaps, this new group could help filter out the weak. Though this wouldn't be the first attempt, these "new groups" always fail to attract enough members to become productive and end up failing in the end. However, as the old saying goes, "if at first you don't succeed, try try again." Failures of the past do not necessarily dictate failures in the future. I may be less than optimistic about a new group succeeding, but if one were to arise I would do all I could to help it take off. Though, I do believe sufficient changes could be made to the group to steer it in a direction that we could all agree is favorable. Perhaps it would be best to attempt to implement new posting rules. Maybe create an off-topic group. Maybe creating a "New Satanist" group where a few experienced members could go to try and aid those who have recently embarked upon their Satanic journey. Though, this theoretical group would have to differentiate between the sincere and the wannabes who just want attention.

But at this point, I'm going little more than posting a particularly long rant. So I will stop writing, for now at least.

Ever since I've joined someone has posted something like this every month proably. Or at least maybe every month and a half it seems. Then stuff got a little bit better for a week or two then started to go back to the way it was. At least that's what it seems like to me. My personal belief is that Joy of Satan is one of the most spiritually enlightened communities in the world. The information and theses provided are incredibly accurate, the philosophy can withstand any type or form of scrutiny and the leaders are highly intelligent and spiritually evolved. BUT. This is sadly not the case with most of the members.

This yahoo group is really getting on my nerves. In the last month I have been notified about approximately 1,000 posts. I've probably read about 50% or so. The topics vary from a few really good ones (like the one concerning the tarot), to (in about 90% of the cases studied) mindless, self-praising, ignorant bullshit (like posts of the kind about various norwegian BM bands, is eminem a jew? and so on and so on). Ignorant members of this community is spewing out bullshit in manner which can only be compared to producers of american sit-coms.

All of this bullshit serves one purpose, and one purpose only: to distract adepts and those honestly interested in the philosophy from core values. I, for one, will no longer be a part of this community if certain members do not stop the spamming of this group right now. I have written some essays which might be interesting and valuable for some, if not many, but I am witholding these until this madness comes to an end.

Please do not let this community become a hype for aggresive, ignorant teenagers. Their memberships are not needed, nor is their input on manners of the occult.

With all this being said, The High Priestess and others are doing an excellent job worthy of praise. Please do not let their hard work be thrown down the toilet by these mindless sheep.

So people, from now on I urge you to think about it for quite some time before posting anything in this forum, so that we can let this community become what it potentially could be - the most sought-after intellectual occult forum in the world! Bullshit of the kind being posted in the last few months is not even worthy the attention of, and is no way a praise to, our Father, The Bringer of Light And Wisdom, Lucifer - The One Most High.

After I was rounding up as many as I can to do this program if indeed this is the one you are talking about, I was hit with many obstacles I do not wish to speak about what they were but they happened whilst I was organizing that, some don't have it easy in this lifetime and some get bothered either by other spirits or in a bad junction with the planets, sometimes more then others, so when I was at a stage where I new that I couldn't keep on doing or organizing the spiritual warfare program, I advised any who was still doing it to join the hells army section and continue from there, the way your talking about it upsets me and has really pissed me off. I understand in what your saying, I totally understand and in no way am I trying to get into an argument, but you do not understand what I went threw and I tried to urge everyone to continue it in the other e-group. I don't like in house bullshit but I am not going to read that and bite my lip about it, what you wrote offended me and I am telling you that it did. I'm only speaking my mind and in no way wish to bring about an argument, now speak to Satan if you are doubting who I am, anyway just letting you no I took that to offense, anyhow best of luck.

I was responding to the comment asking what the forum might be used for that would be positive and beneficial for the group as a whole with imput from the more experienced to help the less so. Yes, the posts one may see while browsing this forum can be quite rediculous or just plain pointless, and yes Id agree with you that some of them are only made to seek attention and praise in a selfish manner (Look at any online forum anywhere in the internet, this trend persists throughout.) However what I believe you are failing to grasp is that these posts and individuals are not really causing that much harm.


Sure it can kind of be obnoxious to be browsing the forums for more serious related matters, but no one is forcing you to click the link that will take you into there post. Most of these posts have a clear and identifiable title with them. If you see a post called "Hurp Durp, how does I sell mny soul to the devil?" YOu probably should avoid reading it because its filled with ignorant nonsense. When you get aggrovated and upset at these situations you have no one but yourself to blame, your the one reading them.


For that matter look at it from this perspective aswell, Most of those posts are written from people from a much younger age group, as you mentioned. Since this is the case, of course you are going to run into a much larger array of "pointless" topics if you will. However, as you know just aswell as I do, as Satanists, we do not have open and public places of worship, at least not yet. Since this is the case, the only real forms of communication some Satanists get with other Satanists is through this forum. Most such as myself find themselves in a isolated town with no others who understand there beliefs, to them this forum is there sanctuary, a place they can go and speak with there brothers and sisters about there concerns and ideas, and yes even joke around from time to time about pointless issues... This is how I see things right now: if someone within the next few weeks were to try to re-organize this movement into what it potentially is, a group of some of the most powerful and andvanced practicing magicians in the world, by making their followers take an exam to place them in the hierarchy, I would happily take that exam and start working constructively within the order. Then we can ask for Lucifers advice regarding future recrutation and initiations. Anyhow, if the movement and thus the forum decides to maintain a status-quo, this forum will have no interest to me, which I find really sad, because for almost a decade now, I have been searching the internet for JoS (although I did not know it), and now that I have found it, it repulses me because it attracts and welcomes more frustrated teenagers than shit does to flies.

And no, I don't think I have misunderstood the concept of this forum, because I have been a moderator and user at a SOME of them through the last decade, and yes, I know that it can be frustrating to be a teenager and feel like an outcast, but these kids, most of them don't even seem to be frustrated, they're just listening to music and hears the lyrics and thinks "Wow, that's awesome" and decides to be a satanist. Much like the huge "satanist boom" in 92/93. Only thing that's different, is that now we have resources like JoS, and one can join a community on the internet that says you are a satanist. No more being alone with your thoughts and your Father, no more looking up authors, magicians, manuscripts and texts or rituals in the library, no! we just ask bullshit questions so that they think we are interested and thus can raise our credentials because we're so 'dedicated'. I don't like it! These teenagers make me puke. And if this isn't going to change, then I guess this simply just isn't the right place for me.
