First of all, always remember that if no meditation will make you feel "bad" unless you overdo it.
I remember when I had first done the meditation for astral projection, I could feel intense vibrations throughout my entire (physical) body, but I wasn't panicked. I did get startled in the beginning, but it was an interesting experience, I wasn't afraid. If your husband truly had his/her Guardian with him then he would DEFINITELY *NOT* feel anything bad, no panick, no fear; but calm and peaceful.
It is really amazing how the Gods can make us feel. Not once had I felt anything negative when in the presence of a God or while talking to them and receiving their responses.
What your husband experienced was definitely an attack, and I advice to, except for doing the banishing ritual, to build his aura of protection at least twice a day. Tell him to use runes as well, to amplify this. Algiz, Bjork and even Thurisaz could do the trick.He will normally breathe in the protective energy (state the affirmation in his mind) and on the exhale he will vibrate the rune.

Yes, thats what my husband said to me. He wasnt scare until he felt his body coming out.
