Question: How do you use the Aum Shivaya Namah mantra?

I'm very cautious about trying new mantras because there's a lot of corrupt material, this is why I asked.

This is from the previous discussion with Stormblood in this thread

In the Mahabharata, in the story of the boar, Arjuna in supplication to Shiva for his desires to obtain a mystical weapon, he uses this mantra to call upon Lord Shiva. "Then, with undivided attention, he begins to chant the holy invocation Om Namah Shivaya. His meditation becomes so fervent that he heats up as though he were on fire. " A boar interrupted Arjuna's tapasya, and decided to shoot it with an arrow.

Muktanandaji says: "Underlying this mantra is a great secret. As we chant the give syllables, Namah Shivaya, give elements that comprise the body are purified. Each of the syllables corresponds to one of these elements: ...na to the earth element...the syllable ma to the water element...the syllable shi to the fire element...the syllable va to the air element...the syllable ya to the ether element. Each syllable purifies its corresponding element. As long as the body and the mind are not completley pure, we cannot fully benefit from our spiritual practice. Therefore, we repeat Aum Namah Shivaya to help cleanse them."

In the Tirumantiram, they state that this mantra is the alchemical process that turns the body into gold (and eternal youth), and gives several permutations and applications of this mantra.

The formula is given as Na-Base, Ma-Sacral, Shi-Solar, Va-Heart, Ya-Throat. Then AUM (in the "heart" chakra, which probably means the center in the head). But I don't know if this correct or corrupted, that's why I'm asking and being cautious about it.

Not sure why you listed it backwards here. I dont know of any other examples where it would be vibrated like this. Normally you start with AUM, then the specific mantra, then Nama.

But either way, regardless of how you vibrate this, these three mantras should never really be harmful. Shiva is just one of the names of Satan, and AUM and Nama should be obvious anyway. So feel free to test and experiment. :)

Satanama does this better, i think it is explained in a few sermons. It does purify the elements and make you younger.
