Preperation for Black Magick

I plan on getting revenge on a girl who hurt me deeply this Tuesday. I'm going to take something of hers and make a poppit. It will be the first time I've done black magick in this life. Should I do any specific meditations or other things to help me prepare? And does the poppit have to look exactly like her?

I'm actually making a poppet too. It will work best the more you are able to project her energy into it
