Do the nodes in a SR indicate anything? Does it matter if they are stationary or retrograde? I bought Planets in Solar Return by Mary Fortier Shea and it's great but there's nothing about nodes.
Nodes are never stationary and always retrograde. They need 29 years or so to go one time around. They are points of integration, representing past and future. The deja vu and the areas to bediscovered. North node as future and south node is past (which is easy but leads to repetition and unhappiness)...like head and anus. From: ch_3_coo <ch_3_coo@... Nodes are allways retrograde. As for whether they are relevant, i'm not sure but i remember reading that solar return chart is to be iterpreted just like the natal chart, so i'd say that they should be taken into account.

I don't have much knowledge on that, but according to Celeste Teal's book on lunar nodes, they can be analyzed the same way they are in the natal chart, but their influence lasts only for the one year period covered by the return chart.
The author comments that prominently placed nodes in the return charts (such as conjunct an angle) usually bring the node's qualities strongly into the period, however I suppose they work in a general way, supporting or opposing the trends shown in the chart, but not really supplanting influences; the north node being positive, bringing growth, opportunities and aid and the south node being negative, bringing difficulties and restrictions.
She also mentions (and this is surprisingly accurate from what I've seen) that when the north node is found in the uppermost part of the chart (all houses from 7 to 12) or near the ascendant, the period is usually good, it _feels_ good, doors open and helpful people enter the life. The opposite is true when the south node is there instead, the period feels bad and constraining, support comes hard and troublesome connections can be made.
