As I am new to meditation, I often find it difficult to visualise. I noticed that I visualise better when I try listening to Indian and Tibetan sounds from my phone in the background.:) But people here have told me that there should be no sound at all when meditating. Should I stop meditating with music?

i once read from temple of zeus about a meditation and it said songs can be used for predicting time. so that means we can listen music. I personally listen to music all the time while I'm doing meditations and rituals. it's increasing my energy and i think songs with beautiful lyrics can be sweet while doing god rituals.

Technically, you can do either. Silence helps in a lot of things, but Lady Maxine used to use music when in corpse pose after yoga.

Void is more difficult with this and better off as silent, along with deep trance where noises disturb.

Visualizing while listening to music is possible and you can use it as a practice of Synthesia: the ability to see colors and shapes when hearing music or associating smells with certain things. Music should be relaxing, so music with minimum to no words is best; such as nature sounds and binary beats. Again, to each their own, meditation is an individual learning process of what works for you.
