What are your impressions in the difference between magickal powers and mental illness?

Hearing voices and having visions can be a spiritual experience, but when you're unable to tell the difference between reality and fantasy the mental illness question comes to mind...

A mental illness is characterized by loss of control of the whole situation.When we safely "tap" into the spiritual Level,we may see and hear many things,but our logic and sense of reality is never down.We also have proof about what is going on , especially about magical workings.We are in control of the whole thing.

A mental health test would solve this question, but keep in mind that there's a really big difference between spiritual "sensibility" and mental problems. When you can't tell anymore the difference, it means that something is definitely going wrong.

Hello, everybody.

I think we all agree that losing touch with reality (being psychotic) is not a positive sign at all.

But I'm not so sure the line between psychic powers and the so called mental illnesses is so clear. Let's bear in mind that psychiatrists have an interest in labeling everybody with a mental disorder so they can sell more drugs. According to psychiatry we all satanists are ill and could be labeled as schizotypal.

My theory is that mental imbalances are due to the unplanned opening of the chakras, that is to say, psychic powers gone beserk! But I'm relatively new to the topic so I'd like to hear opinions from more experienced people.

Please keep on bringing your ideas.

PLENTY have shunned our (JoS) magick formulae, stating that they are detrimental to mental health, and that practice of these lead to what is said above - mental illness (leading to bashing Hermetics and Franz Bardon, inevitably).

I say "fuck them". Magick is magick. The 3 basic steps to magick are universal.
They raise energy with candles, spirits, sigils and symbols - we visualize.
They program the energy with chants, incantations, songs, etc. - we command the energy.

They apparently like dramatic bullshit, cuz our magick is direct and doesn't have any.

In fact, our magick does the opposite. We express repressed emotion (made possible by trance - something they lack) and utilize them for magick = VERY THERAPEUTIC.

I don't think psych tests can judge voices in your head.
Clairaudience of any sort - be it your thoughts or someone else's - will always be shunned as mental illness whether or not you really are psychotic.
Taking medications for this may even be highly dangerous for some. If someone who's really just naturally clairaudient takes these, their brain is in for a wild ride. Though, it will be helpful for the truly psycho as they really do have a problem. Clairaudience is not an illness.

to say unplanned opening chakra lead to mental illness is correct,there also other reasons,thoughtform going haywire(the usual bad karma),misdirection of pranic flow,esspecially those connected to the nervous system n brain,over accumulation of any fluid,electric or magnetic,excessive air element,premature kundalini.imbalances of the elements.

How can you balance the problems you mentioned?

What do you do for "bad karma"?

How do you balance excessive air elements? (I've read the meditations about the elements, but I'm afraid I quite don't understand how to balance them... Do you invoke earth to balance air?)

What about the pranic flow? Will activating your chakras eventually return your energy to a balance?

I used to have a moderate to severe autism spectrum disorder by the name of Asperger Syndrome. I studied magick to gain control of my life. I lacked empathy, was overly emotional, couldn't process sensory information properly, etc. As I do my meditations and empower my chakras, my brain is being healed. I am becoming a real human being for the first time in my life. I am no more a worthless creature. I have noticed drastic changes in my social cognition, working memory, sensory processing, empathy, attention, impulse control, episodic memory recall and every other mental function. I can love myself now, all thanks to magick. Father Satan loved me before I started using magick. He has kept me alive. And yes, my very first curse was misdirected and got me sick. I have since learned how to deliver a curse without any consequences.

So your suggesting people with aspergers syndrome lack empathy, I supposedly "have" it I was diagnosed, but fit none of those characteristics. I just don't like being normal socially, cause of too much conformity so they labelled me with that. I guess. Maybe you had it more severe than I do but I really don't WANT to change, I actually enjoy the so called symptoms of my "illness" no I am not sounding insane here its not an illness its a gift, I love being able to be deep and authentic and not have to deal with the bullshit the average person goes through all the time, I consider myself a real human. Also I love emotional stuff and being emotional, So far as the symptoms you listed: I don't lack empathy, I seem to have more of it than some I meet, through meditation I am actually able to feel others emotions, but I always felt for people if they needed me, social cognition, why do I want to conform to society they can take their social rules and shove them up the ass, I have met plenty of people who accept me for who I am, I don't have problems making or having friends, well the last three things you listed are problems but I haven't had much experience with any of them, I have no desire to change who I am I see my "disorder" as a gift.
Autistic are not inhuman, they are usually just very misunderstood people.

8)   well yes,u invoke the earth,im dominant earth n fire,so i work with air n water to balance things up.by working ur chakras,power meditation,will overcome karma,theres on the jos the detachment exercise,n many people didnt realise how a simple cleaning ur aura can overcome karma,if done correctly,cleaning ur aura removes thoughtforms n negative energy we intereact daily.other than thoughtforms n astral cords,even simple emotional energy picked up by the aura create so called karma,for example u been in a room full of angry people with destructive thoughts,picked up by ur aura.well imagine that,u arent a part of it,but ur now involved.   karma isnt a fixed law,do bad u get bad etc,it an energy reaction,unlike those new age people said it were.remember my example above?it aint about deeds,but the energy involved,two people create a karma of the same kind,but might end up with different results.karma is to be conquered not to be feared like those new age are so afraid of everything they do might damn them.   the energy in the perinium,is balanced,circulating this energy will balance the chakras.normally the chakras are imbalanced,opening them is letting energy/prana flow through them.
well the element are advanced,i think ur fear might be ur subconcious cautioning u,instead of invoking it,do the preminilary exercises,ok? 8)
