Greetings to All,
My name is Lucius Nikao. I am a new member of these pages as of today. I spent a few days reviewing the blogs at JOS before joining and was intrigued by what I found there. Much of the material written by High Priestess Maxine Dietrich found a ready home in my heart. Some of it raised questions.
Some 25 years ago, I made my great escape from the bowels of Christianity and began a very long journey through what I will refer to as a dark and dreary wasteland of theology, anti theology, atheism, and other "isms" too dreadful to mention before coming into what I have called home for the last 7 years -- Hermetics and Metaphysical Science. The journey has been well worth the effort, but it seems I am still a traveler.
I my spiritual travels, I have come to accept that "Satan" was an invention of the Christian church. Reading the blogs at JOS, I have opened my mind to the possibility that I am wrong about this. Much (most) of the ideas expressed there have been easy to understand. The magickal practices make sense and I share in a large portion of the philosphy at large. I will pose a few questions. Hopefully someone will be kind enough to endulge my inquisitve mind with answers.
1. I agree that the Bible is an invention with the clandestine intent of robbing mankind, who would fall under its spell, of there freedom to excercise a rational mind. If this is true, why draw so heavily on it in the composition of a new theology, such as "Satanism"?
2. It seems to me that "Satan" is a title or name given to the God you worship by the Jews (Hebrews) and subsequent Christians who have followed. If this be true, why adopt their launguage for an entity who supasses their limited knowledge?
3. It also seems that "hell" is an invention of the judeo christian theology. Why entertain such a place if it has no existance except inside their mutant imaginations?
4. The number 666 has for years seemed to me to be an invention of contemporary christianity, born out of fear and ignorance. What value does it have in a REAL theology based on something not kin to fairy tales?
I hope that my questions are taken in the spirit of thirst for knowledge, as they are intended. I truly would like to learn more about your beliefs.
Best Regards to All,
Lucius Nikao
