Help with familiars.

A few days ago I prayed to Father to grant me a familiar, and just today i was at work "construction" and a jumping spider landed on my hat and stayed there. I thought he might be my familiar but i don't know, when i would take my hat off he would follow to the side of the hat that i was on and once, i took him off my hat and put him on a tree then not 10 min later he was somehow on my hat again. My question is, can spiders be familiars or is this all just coincidence?

Every animal can be a familiar as far as i know.
