Thought I would update those who are interested in the retreat I spoke about earlier, what is happening. Amanda is out by Sacramento looking at some land, roughly 88 acres. From what she has said it is nearly all lightly forested except where the homestead is now. If she likes it and if we get funding, the the ranch/retreat will become a reality.
The homestead will be where Amanda lives, and where the horse preserve will be. If you recall we want to open up a large animal haven. Twenty acres for the homestead, and another 30 acres for the horses. A second homestead is now planned for another couple, gifting them 15 acres. That leaves 23 acres for the retreat. The building area will be 9 acres square (Aprx 625 ft x 625 ft.) the remainder of the land will be for a few cattle (milking, and slaughter), pigs, chicken and one Lama named Larry.
I have been meditating on this for nearly a month nonstop. It has consumed my life and nearly all my drive time. The name of the retreat is "The Five Point Retreat". Reflecting the five points on the pentagram. It is a retreat, not a resort. While there will be time for any form of fun, the purpose of Five Point is as a center for spiritual birth/rebirth. I want it to become a place of life changing or life affirming experiences.
To do this I have taken a bit of my past and woven it into my world today. I am to create a monastic retreat where the focus is on preparing and gathering around the food prepared. All activities outside of meditation will be somehow connected with preparing the next meel, or helping to grow the food we eat. I am looking into building a hydroponic garden so fresh, organic vegetables will be available year around. All milk products will be produced on site as will, hopefully all meats. If demand is greater than what can be produced then a local organic farmer will be contacted. The food we eat will be pure and health. Because food preparation is the central focus, the commons is the largest planned building. It will have a 40x40 ft kitchen where a multitude of people can work.
Living quarters will be five, two person cabins. This means that Five Point will never have more than ten guests. I want to keep it small. The second goal is that when you arrive on, a Thursday afternoon, You know no more than one person. Cabins will be set up for either a couple in a queen bed, or two separate beds for individuals. The reasoning for having it small not allowing larger groups is that when Monday morning arrives everyone should have 9 new lifelong friends and points of contact from around the nation. The goal here is to build a national community of spiritual satanist.
I said spiritual satanist because the focus will be for spiritual satanist. This doesn't mean that non spiritual satanist need not come. All will be welcomed, with the understanding that this is a retreat focusing on the spiritual needs of spiritual satanist.
Each cabin will be placed at one of the five points of the pentagram that will be laid out in paving stone to act as a pathway. Each cabin will be centered around its corresponding element with its point. Behind each cabin will be a small mediation garden, again reflecting the element of the point. So at the water point I want to place a reflecting pond that can be entered and that will have three platforms to meditate or perform yoga on. A Japanese style rock garden with large rocks to meditate will be the earth garden. The air garden will be items that illuminate the voice of wind and objects the highlight the movement of wind. The fire garden I am thinking about using lava rock and attempting to create an eternal flame monument. The spiritual garden is going to have a obelisk that is partially lower than ground level, and have aspects of all the other elements in its making. It rests below ground level to show its connection to earth, while reaching upward toward the stars. There will be a reflecting pond around it with piping through it to allow for flames to come up out of the water. There will be an alter in each garden. However, the central alter will be at this.
There will be common restrooms and showers. The sauna and common shower will hold everyone. However, those who are modest or have issues with nudity there will be private showers in gender specific restrooms.
I am looking at the cost of a liquor license and developing a budget and business outline as I write this.
As it sits now guest will arrive Thursday afternoon around 5pm. A welcoming gathering will be Thursday evening where everyone has a chance to meet everyone else. Two meals will be cooked a day, breakfast and diner. Lunch will be a self helped soap and sandwich. Each day I will ask that each guest provide 3 hours of their time to help prepare the food we eat. There it will also be asked to participate 3 times a day in self directed or group meditations for an hour at each period. The rest of the day is left to the guests direction. There will be computer access but no TV. The goal is to mingle get to know the other guest and to live by this mantra while at five point;

Guest as stated will arrive Thursday afternoon and depart Monday by noon. This gives me and one paid employee time to prepare for the next group of guests. This affords each guests plenty of time to meet new people and to gain insight into their path and who they are. I hope to offer the center as a meeting place for local spiritual satanist to come help make the center a success by offering their support and knowledge to the guests.
As for cost, four night and four days all inclusive I am calculating right now around 1500.00 per person. This may change, but I think I am close. I don't want to get rich off this venture and if I could figure out a way to run the retreat and offer it's services to everyone for free I would. However, right now that isn't possible.
