Doing Beginning Meditations

Now that I have some more free time on my hands, I've been working with some meditation exercises. I was fairly pleased with my last void meditation session! I was in a mental state that seemed almost like sleep and yes, I'm sure I was awake instead of simply being asleep. It felt like I truly managed to silence my mind. Even if my mind still insisted on certain "thoughts", it didn't really matter because I was in such a detached state of mind that the thoughts didn't exist as far as my consciousness was concerned, if that makes any sense. After coming out of my void meditation, I remember feeling not fully alert and sort of "out of it". However, I wasn't drowsy. It also seemed to take a nice bite out of the stress of daily living. Oh yeah, it also took longer than I intended by about a half hour.

Anyways, now that I appear to have succeeded in stilling my mind, I'm interested in moving on to something a little more challenging. I was thinking maybe I would practice more meditations that would develop my abilities to sense and perceive energy. These types of meditation seem to involve more visualization, which I'm less familiar with. I like the void meditation quite a bit due to its simplicity (There is nothing to visualize.). If I may, I'd like to clarify things a little. When doing visualization, is it good enough to merely think of the image and hold it in your head as opposed to actually seeing it? Also, are there any particularly important points I should focus on when working with sensing and perceiving energies. Is it okay to practice this without any open chakras? After all, I don't want to try something if my efforts are going to simply be futile. Any other general advice? Also, I almost forgot, are there any simple (beginner) meditative techniques or magic that would enhance or speed my meditation results?

Thanks in advance for any responses. I think this may be a helpful topic for other beginner Satanists as well.

Hail Satan!
