If some of you are having difficulty falling into a trance, there are a few ways of doing it. On JOS it says to picture your self using a ladder. This works for some, but not for all. You may want to try it to the beat of a shaman's drum. If it is beating at 180 beats per minute and the stick is hitting between the center and the edge, it causes a vibration that assists in accessing other parts of one's mind.

There are more drum beat patterns and speeds, but this is just one. Also, maracas, dijeradoos, and rattles are helpful.

How is a drum beat, or any sort of beat, supposed to create a sense of falling, or a falling effect!?!?!

If you can find a recording of the alpha rhythm, it mimicks the pattern of REM sleep.. it can help bring you to a dreamstate while you're still conscious.. which can aid you in achieving the falling sensation, trance, and maintaining trance.. It's a very good tool :)
