I forgot who to give credit for but a member here some time ago had the wonderful idea to suggest counting on your fingerpads.

I have used this method ever since. No need of any item and very subtle if your ever count in public.

I use my right hand to count the units and the left for the tens.

Sometimes I count in base 11 for 88 for example.
Whenever I reach the 11th finger pad on my right hand, I add 1 on the left.
When I reach the 8th finger pad on my left hand I am at 88.

I used to use this until I lost it. Now I just use a counter app on my phone.

I count from 1-10 with my left hand, and keep track of multiples of 10 with my left. For example when using algiz. I have my right pinky up to know this is my first 10, then with left hand I put up fingers one by one and count pinky1 ring2 middle3 pointer4 thumb5, then I start putting fingers down as I count from 6-10 starting with thumb down- 6 pointer down 7 middle down 8 ring down 9 pinky down 10. Now I would put up my ring finger on my right hand to start another set of ten will I hit 8sets of 10 then I just do an extra 8 to complete 88 vibrations. I could use a rosary but mine broke.

I think counting with fingers in mind has high potential.
Like at some point, I imagine the Brain to do the count sub consciously and when you consciously try to remember what count you are at, you would know in a sec by which fingertip you are more conscious and therefore feel more of.

This is a hypothesis. It might be true or it might not be true. I just feel that counting by feelings your finger tips has good scope of development.
