Question #344: Yang deficiency

I don't want to post this on my private account because it's personal but I have a Yang deficiency. I have too much yin. I'm learning the effects yin and yang have on our bodies recently. I'm so used to eating yin foods, it's caused a lot of weight gain. I'm wondering what are some good yang workouts and yang foods I can have? I'm asking here because I don't trust looking it up on Joogle Chrome. I'm trying to get back into yoga, I'm overweight so it's difficult though I need to find easy stretches and workouts that are going to help me as my body adjusts to exercise again as well. Thank you for your time

I would look up yang foods by a simple search.

But for physical exercise, cardio and Kundalini Yoga are good for increasing yang. For exercising, start with easy stuff as your body and mind are not used to medium to hard efforts. You can do hard, out-of-breath efforts later as you adapt. Remember to take time for recovery, but also challenge yourself. Finding the middle ground is key to the best results. As for actual methods; Examples are such as walking, running, cycling, swimming, skiing, and you get the idea.

Also, stomach 36 acupoint works by increasing yang at the expense of yin.

Breathing exercises such as breath of fire are great for increasing yang temporarily.

For long-term success lifestyle and dietary changes need to be applied and made into new habits.

Herbs for yang deficiency. I'd suggest experimenting with one at a time. Find one you're drawn to or like, learn as much as you can about it and then find a high quality source and start using it. Give it at least 30-90 days for effects to be apparent.

I would highly recommend the OP to look at kundalini yoga or cardio, as well. Don't worry if you have difficulties with the poses; it does not need to be perfect, and it will help reduce your weight.

Lastly, make sure you are making use of Sun and Mars energies, as these are key for fixing yang deficiency.

I meant that that point increases yang at the expense of yin. Because you can't create something from nothing. Right?

When you push a point, the body directs "nutritive qi" to work on that problem. However, the stomach's job is to increase this type of qi through the digestion of food. In this case, the yin being broken down should come from the food in the stomach, as opposed to whatever yin comprises the nutritive qi or blood, at least in theory. In this way, the net result should be positive.

This is unique to this point because solar energy comprises all elements necessary for life, as opposed to a point that increases kidney or lung yang, for example.
