Can kundalini yoga replace chakra vibrations

Only to a small degree. I used to do this but the reality is that vibration is the most effective for stimulating/empowering the chakras and is extremely effective for getting the blocks out. Plus the extensions need to be worked on

KY can do this to a degree but you’ll get better results if you do both.

Really. The 8 fold path is supposed to be practiced if possible. This includes vibration and yoga

Kundalini yoga teacher here. These mantras are Sanskrit which Kundalini yoga uses. You can just do Kundalini yoga and still advance. I'm sure you're referring to the basic spinal series, what this does is raise energy from the Kundalini through your chakra system. It is a simple and powerful set but is not targeted at empowerment of a specific chakra.

If you want the best results vibrate mantras AND do yoga. If you are new I would stick with your kriya and work on visualization of the chakras as taught by JoS. Add mantras when you can easily feel your chakras and the energy flowing through them.

If you really don't have time then it would be ok, but Chakras to be empowered properly need specific attention. You don't necessarly need to vibrate mantras if you don't want to, just breathing energy in them and focusing on them for some minutes is still a great Meditation.
