Alternative nostril breathing clarification

While browsing through jos main site I got quite puzzled at the alternative nostril breathing page. I always did it like this:
Inhale through left
Hold at the end of the inhale
Exhale through right
Inhale through right
Hold at the end of the inhale
Exhale through left
(The above constitutes one round.)

But after reading the page again I have some doubts because the page has more instructions.(step number five for example) Could someone here please write only the correct steps for the breath, so I don't get mistracked by the rest of the text?

On another note I'd also like to start doing the breath of fire after reading the recent accounts of its benefits by HP Mageson. Is doing it before the basic spinal kundalini routine in the morning a good timing?

I have drawn and created an animated gif for the alternate nostril breathing for you and anybody else who may find it useful.

I already know that the thumb technically starts on the left nostril in the image but this is on purpose because people find it easier to just mirror something they are looking at. Just mirror the gif with your own actions.

Thank you, looks like I've been doing it correctly.

My own count is faster than a second per count though, you think it's good to stick with it, or should I try to bring it more level with it.

The counts are just a guideline, if you miss it by a second or half a second or if you go just a bit too quickly, there are no massive consequences. Just do it to the best of your ability and if you need help with counting I'm sure there are online clocks you can find that count by real seconds.
