I would try different runes over a period of time, and see which intuitively feels best.

For a period, I used to do Sowilo and Algiz in the morning, Berkano and Eiws in the evening, for example.

Tyr is a great protection rune too, but best when you need to return something.

Same effects overall, but can be a bit different, from I have heard from HP HoodedCobra. I use Icelandic myself, but I write the full name or people tend to get confused.
