Eventually, Gortner suffered a crisis of conscience and decided to renounce his ways, offering the documentary film crew unrestricted access to him during his final revival tour. Dollar was left quickly alone as he had major political contacts as due to his reach among his followers he can make and break a career and is most likey a major campaign contributor buying influence in the government. He was busted when a investigative reporter took a radio scanner in to his meeting and picked up the radio wave band they where communicating on, taped the whole thing then aired it.
The movie "Leap of Faith" with Steve Martin was based on Popoff.
