You need to ask yourself what are the layers of understanding regarding magick, manifestation of the astral to material realm? After all, magick is a part of science.
Look around you, everything you see, your computer screen, your chair, your bed, your furniture, the cars outside, buildings, windows... everything you see was once someone's idea before it materialized into a physical form in reality. Now, I also want to add in some instances, such as with science, where, for example, storms manifest on their own; hot, humid air colliding with cold, dry air, but the majority of everything here was once someone's idea.
The universe cares about one thing: effort, namely the hard work towards an outcome. You must know: suffering and reward drive evolution. The basic form of existence is by labour, to survive, by expansion and insertion, by receiving and transformation. Each of any animal, insect and form of life here is in tune to the Universe requirements to be living, because they are living presently, and that is of a structure created by "hard work" and intensity depth. The word structure defines also implied limitations, and limitations are how you exist and the world exist. Your DNA is a certain structure and with perfect given limitations, so that you are not born an apple or become a giraffe after a walk.
Now, you probably searched for magick due to either a desire for quick solutions, whether out of urgency, laziness, or the illusion that magick bypasses effort. Most people want 'problems solved' but they don’t want themselves to be the source of the problem that is being solved. This deludes someone and misguides them, since one does not understand how things work themselves. Magick is not a substitute for labor, it is its ally. The universe demands effort: both internal (karmic change) and external (action). For example, if the problem is lack of employment, but you don’t do anything that would potentially employ you... you are essentially halting the situation on your own.
The “Paradox” of Magical Success
You may perform a 40-day ritual for health, yet lasting change requires habitual adjustment: A 40-day working will likely help a lot, but one can expect changes after 180 days or a whole year to be very strong because one must work to change the karmic flow that led a person to these situations in the first place.
This is where the meditations present in the Temple of Zeus offer you the solution. Meditation alters your consciousness, your awareness towards life, while magick expresses will outwardly within karmic limits. To explain plainly, magick will work in accordance to its programming, but within the context of your soul, to make magnified changes, workings must be done repetitively, like meditation to cement the energy.
Beware of the wiccan nonsense of lazy ‘manifestation’: doing spells and just sitting there doing nothing. This NOT how magick works. One cannot base all their existence on miracles if they expect actual results. True magickal success demands action, rituals must be reinforced by consistent effort in the physical world. If you seek wealth, you must also work, network, and develop skills. If you desire health, you must adjust diet, exercise, and habits.
The magick you’ve done will make these processes pleasant for you, you may have increased interest in some topics or find ‘sudden’ desire to search and change things around in your life. This is the most fundamental step since it literally makes your magick programming, want, be manifested in the physical world by your thoughts, emotions then actions.
The power you have is decided by meditation which empowers the baseline for all magickal operations. This is not optional. To remember: proper meditation strengthens the mind, expands the aura, and refines the ability to direct energy. Without this foundation, magick remains weak, scattered, or ineffective.
When we do meditation, we essentially go into the root of our soul and everything else, where the basic configurations of our soul do reside. In there, cleansing, empowerment and so on, do have other effects which can change your karmic and other residual forces that make your life and existence as they are.
You might “feel” your magick is not working or that there’s no more outcome out of it in your life. Similar to how magick has layers, the soul and mind has too. These can be opened only by strict advancement: BOTH material and spiritual. The above idea of ‘manifest from astral to material’, you have the ideas in your mind, inspiration comes, visions even, but if you do not sit down and do practical actions it only stays at the stage of day dreaming.
Spiritual centres of power over reality, brain powerhouses, they are often called ‘seats of the Gods’. Another term that got attention is ‘Maharddhika’, ‘maha’ = great, "rddhi" = very prosperous, very powerful or "possessing great supernatural power". It is not commonly used for humans, but it can apply to beings who are advanced spiritual practitioners. These are the siddhis too.
About advancing with meditation: this is not to do with merely accumulate knowledge, but with rewiring neural architecture, expanding capacity to wield magickal force. The symbolism of you being a cup, a vessel is very fitting: once filled it cannot hold more no matter how much you pour into it. It is breaking the plateau, going to the next layer that grants better results, material and spiritual. The brain's power centers respond only to those who demonstrate mastery in all aspects of existence.
A more occultic view can be seen with the help of Goddess of Magick, Hecate. Her mysteries cover both the common usage of magick and material manifestation, but also the higher wisdom, the mystery of Theurgy.
In magick, repetition is key. Note the key here as She is known for her symbols of the key, time and space, thresholds, and boundaries.
Quite directly you can understand that this symbol of threshold, the manifestation of astral towards the material is governed by Her. Number three is also a key in magick, three basic steps are needed: raising the energy, programming the energy and directing the energy.
A single magickal working is like turning the key once: it may loosen the lock, but only repeated effort (40-day, 180-day, or year-long workings) fully opens the door. You can also see signs that your working is manifesting: you can get meaningful coincidences or people relevant to your goal that appear unexpectedly or even have symbolic dreams. Another beneficial sign is when inner resistance surfaces and obstacles arise, this is the working testing your resolve.
Finally, when you do workings and meditation to change certain things, these act on everything in you, causing a series of changes on all of these levels. That’s one of the primary reasons why there is always a lag time and waiting needed in order to get certain goals. The less the resistance, the better the outcomes and more direct. Affirmations being specific, is important here, such as in the "most positive way for me" and so on. Magick done recklessly, can yield certain results, but they are not guaranteed to be safe.
The two above forces or magick and meditation, are supposed to be connected and united, in order for you to bring your life under proper order and grant yourself your wishes or to overcome your obstacles in life. Neither must be mistaken for hocus pocus nonsense, and they are always limited by the power of those involved, including your own power. The power you have, is decided by meditation and meditation is supposed to increase and empower the baseline upon which you build everything that you do as a magickal operation.
Hecate favors those who meet her at the crossroads with work already begun. Your magick will smooth the path, spark inspiration, and align opportunity, however for this, you must walk it with your own feet. Follow Hecate’s Torch that lights the way in darkness.
