Continuation of https://ancient-forums.com/threads/...ly-gates-windows-10-8-to.303815/#post-1165439

After a few days of doing the High Priest Hooded Cobra Divine Statement Ritual™, I figured I want to use gentoo.

A preinstalled gentoo would be my best bet, assuming that I can do all of that complicated stuff later on as opposed to in the beginning.
Never actually found much regarding that but I'm sure a stage 3 tarball would suffice.

I have some unfortunate news, while I was trying to transfer files using robocopy, my hard drive shut off on me, rendering it corrupted, what the hell do I do?
I am considering using my limited resources to buy an internal SSD that is atleast 1tb storage, why have a middle man when you can just clone your old HDD on to a new SSD?

Now for an interesting fact that instead of feeling rushed after Oct 14, I felt more free like I'm not connected to the bill gates crap. Interesting huh?

With saturn pounding on me like the red army, I find trying to do anything outside of the strictly necessary difficult.

Conclusion::I have Three choices Debian, Arch/EndeavorOS, Stage 3 Gentoo, choose one for me.

Is there a more suitable place in Ancient forums to post about technology related stuff like this?

Gentoo as a first distro is diabolical or simply as a daily drive for anyone.
At the end of the day we can't choose for you, you'll have to try and look up what are to pros and cons for each of these and what suits your needs.
It's also about what you get used to, it doesn't matter which you choose you'll get used to it.
Pop_os is also very nice.
Or if you want to be tech savy, simply use a windows manager instead of a desktop environment, that'll make the biggest difference rather than a distro.

I have been using MX Linux recently. It is based on Debian but is very custom with a lot more features that aren't in standard Debian. It already comes with most of the programs that you will ever need, so there is very little that you would ever need to do. And everything is easily customizable to make it look however you want. This is one of the easiest ways to have something that is immediately usable without having to do much work to set anything up.

I also think that it looks very good. Usually I think most linux versions look very ugly or childish in a way. They remind me of some toy or video game when I was a young child. The MX Linux looks very good and I have nothing to complain about. And if you want to change how the windows, icons, menus, themes, or anything else looks, you can change all of these in the System Settings menu. You can download many different versions of any of these things. I install the icons that look the same as Windows so everything looks like what I am used to, and choose menu or window decorations to make them look like they do in windows. The rest of the theme looks so good it doesn't need to be changed.

It gives you the choice when installing MX Linux which desktop environment you want. Choose the KDE Plasma, that is what I use and it is also what I used on Debian. It is the best looking one, and easiest to change all of the things I mentioned to make it look however you want. I think by default it would usually be xfce or whatever it is called. But during installation it asks you and you say KDE Plasma.

Oh it's when you download the ISO file from the website, you choose which one. The KDE one is the best.

This also supports the "live usb" function where you can run this OS directly off of a usb or external drive plugged into any computer, similar to Tails OS. Some people will like this feature.
