How do you use Black tourmaline with Algiz

Do I draw the rune on the stone what does it do cleanse and/or protect do I vibrate the rune into the stone etc

I want to use it as a protection stone. On the rune page it says it can be used with Algiz. This stone I want to use So when I am around my xtian family that energy doesn't get inside my soul as much. That's why I bought it. Is it possible to affirm that and carry the crystal on me when I am with this person.
