Most of Hindu gods have a series of names. You may have the principal one, 12, 108, 1000, etc... Example, surya got 12 principal names, vishnu also, shiva, Aditya, ganesha, jyorilingam, etc… The meaning of the names ares said on the forum to show the goal it serves.

I found out that in hindu astrology it is also used as correspondance for their calendar month.
As westerners, in magik, we use planetary hours, and days to decide which planet has more influence. Therefore if we use a god name of sun, we use the hour of sun, add the day of sun for training for more impact. And If we have also the time when the sun is the strongest in zodiacal sign even better.

According to that principle, we could use the specific name for the chakra assigned to the corresponding month or for a specific goal. Sites say to verify in which house is the planet or in which zodiacal sign.

Actually the vedic astrologer uses them for different purposes, we can add somes :

- A planet is in first house or 1st zodiacal sign means use the 1st name of the 12 ones of that planet.
- The place (house and zodiac) where is your planet in your birthday is your specialized mantra (I suppose that the planet there control the sign or house, it wil be great that our astrologer team comment on that part to understand all implications),
- the one of the day where is the planet may have more effect on the chakra trained. Eg if today, the sun is in aries. The sun names will be the first one of the 12 to use for training.
- If the magik goal correspond to one house (fame, money, Relationship, etc...), the planet in that house will probably help us to attain it.

Shiva is venerated monday, and the forum said that his name may served to empower 6th chakra. Therefore in aries we use mahadevaya for shiva (moon).

Of course, there is different site about names. Still, questions remains. Are the order of the names altered ? And why are they different variants ?

Apart that, they are an other possibility. Usually the 12 names do not include the principal one which gives a total of 13. The 12 names plus the main one may also be assigned for the 13 major chakras. to put the powers of it in it. Frawley said that a god has aspects for more than one planet. May be one name has a main influence ifor each c chakra . But its only supposition and is not the current way the names are used in vedic astrology.

Finally ,in response to an old question of the forum. 108 names of the gods correspond to the 27 nakshatras which are divided in 4 sections of time (27 * 4 = 108)
Which means that if a planet is in the first nakshatra and the first of the 4 section you use the 1st name of 108. If tvenus is today in the 1st padma of the 2nd nakshtra, you use the 5th name of 108 names of venus for your purpose. Still I found this system too complicated for the old times. You always need a liste of the names and to know how to calculate the place of planets. Not current people was expert at it. Of course now there is software on internet and for cellulars.

Any one had experience or even try any of theses options yet ?
