Hair and the occult...

I have been hearing that hair has a strong connection to the occult and other spiritual 'practices'. Aleister Crowley mentions that red haired women hold much power in this aspect. It also seems that in ancient Slavic cultures, very long hair in girls and large beards in men greatly influenced their spiritual lives.

So, what IS the importance of long hair? Why is it so prevalent in certain spiritual and religious groups?

<td val[/IMG]I forgot to add in my last reply to this, that the thing is with long hair is that it's very hard to keep anything so fragile long, like hair and nails. So it represents knowledge and wisdom. It plays a big role in occult because those who have a lot of knowledge and wisdom in the cult they preach they have a lot of power within those forces and long hair represents that knowledge and wisdom physically. That's why it's so important. As I said, I myself am a strong believer in such matters.

<td val[/IMG]Well as far as I know long hair means grace, wisdom, and beauty. Big on the wisdom part for cults. I believe in the same thing and have my hair very long, I refuse to cut it for any reason. Long hair basically to my understanding represents the knowledge that one's mind grows. If someone has short hair they're usually look at as short tempered and nieve. If any part of my hair was ever cut short I would go insane literally.
