Just a quick repost of this sermon from High Priest Mac Friday. It is very informative and useful information for any and all new members. Even if you have been around for a while, I suggest you read it to refresh your mind.

I would also like to add something that I feel is important to note for all newer members who are just starting out in Meditation and working on their Spiritual development.
It is emphasised a lot throughout the JoyOfSatan website the importance of achieving the 'Trance state'.
We have since discovered through experiance that this isn't high priority to master straight away. The trance state cane be a difficult concept to understand, and equally hard to achieve for those who are new.
When you meditate, you calm and still your mind. You create a sort of 'mental stillness' or 'quiet'. This is when you are completely relaxed and focused. This is what I like to call a 'Meditative State', which in itself is very similar to a trance. This can be achieved simply by focusing on your breathing and cutting off outside distractions.
Two meditations that will strongly help in the development of this are; Void Meditation, and the Yogic Foundation Breath. Just focus on slow, steady and rythmic breathing.
Later on as you become more adept at meditation in general, you will find that you will simply fall into a trance state. That it will just occur automatically. This is the mind getting into the prepared state for meditation and/or magickal workings.

Pay special attention to the 'alpha stage' as this is the stage of trance, and where magick and working with energy is most effective.
