There are several business entities on television offering their services to people looking to explore their genetic ancestry. I am curious as to why this is becoming such a growing industry aside from the obvious allure of being able to say to yourself and others that you are related genetically to members of a particular region. I also wonder what is done with the results after they are mailed to the person of interest. Is there a central repository of genetic information that is kept? How does this comport with our need for anonymity and safety? Who runs the repositories?
