Chakras and their petals

Hey guys I never actually understood what the petals of the Chakras stand for.
For example the Crown and the thousand petal lotus.
I don’t really know but sometimes when I have trouble focusing on my crown i just imagine the Crownchara surounded by thousand of petals like a lotus. Idk if I am supposed to do this but it kinda worked.

Can someone try to explain what the petals stand for? I am just curious.

The nadis, energy paths. Crown has all the nadis go through it, and connects with the cosmic consciousness of all the world, so there are like thousands of them there. Maybe the petals relates to how many major or big nadis go through that chakra. Other chakras have different numbers of energy paths go into them. But there is a lot more about this that I don't know, but I think this is part of it.
