This is a subject that alot of us will go through at one point or another, when we stop focusing energy and instead fight as energy itself.
Some people use claws, others use powers or even daggers.
How does mundane means like those damage energy?
A theory would be that as a spiritform energy you can still feel pain
that is willed into you both with visual aids.
In this, using a weapon focuses your intent to harm and is brought
with the power of your will upon another spirit. As secondary effect,
the chosen weapon also affect the victim's will.
As meat bodies, we know a stab wound can kill, thus working against us.
In this theory, you never kill an enemy. The only permanent death
is by deforming the energy into neutral unprogrammed energy.
Another theory is that astral combat obeys laws similar to the physical.
Most fiction also use this as they depict astral combat.
The last theory I know of is the one where you are not pure energy in the form you willed into but rather the spiritual extension to your body. In which damage applied will carry to the physical realm as pain
or disease, the spirit being damaged where the flesh is not.
This theory implies that you can kill a spirit in any way if you hurt it quite enough, like a second body that goes in the flesh.
Personally, I discard the second one and right now am unsure of which the first or last one is the most accurate.
I would like to have your opinions, your experiences, to help myself decide on this issue. I have not personally experienced astral combat,
and my communication with demons is rather limited for now, making confirmation rather difficult.
Thanks for your help
