tl;dr: You remember Haiti? These scammers got half a billion dollars. How much houses they built for that? Six. And that supposedly helped about 130 thousand people. Even haitans themselves urge people to not donate to red cross (along with people who researched the matter). Same thing everywhere else. Also comment section is worth a look.
