I remember when I studied the Greek temple, I was very interested and intrigued.
What is the symbolism behind it?
Over time, temples evolved, adding columns (in some cases), and becoming bigger. What is the significance of this evolution?
Also the fact that they face east (where the Sun rises), what is the significance?
On these images are some parts of the Greek temple, what is their significance? For example, what is the significance of the architrave?
The temple is built with perfect proportions, so it is obvious that every part of the temple has a meaning.
Temples evolution:
churches obviously stole a lot from the Greek temple.
Unfortunately I cannot answer fully your questions, so I will share some things that might be of your interest.
All ancient Greek temples are oriented astronomically. Each one is located in specific locations facing astronomical objects and at the same time getting connected geologically and mathematically with locations of other temples, creating shared geometrical schemes and as a result, boosting the energy fields.
Geometry was very important in ancient Greece. There was even a sign outside of Plato's academy saying "no person unaware of geometry can enter". And of course not only ancient Greek temples were built by this logic, but also pyramids and all temples dedicated to our Gods.
Their location:
If we take a map and connect with straight lines some of the most well known temples, we get a triangle, but not just a triangle, we get an isosceles one.
An isosceles triangle can be formed by the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio, the Temple of Aphaia Athena at Aegina, and the Temple of Hephaestus at Thissio, Athens. We can create another one by connecting the Temple of Apollo at Delphi, the Parthenon, and the Temple of Aphaia at Aegina island.
So, about the temples themselves.
Each temple has a specific architecture. Some styles have changed through the years but some important parts are intact, so we see them in all types of temples. Their purpose is to channel energy. The columns could certainly be considered as batteries that can channel the energy from/to the earth for specific purposes.
Their mathematical and occult divine analogy of the structure of each temple is admitted by Aristotle even.
Usually the pediment of each temple was related with the zodiac location that they were built. There are illustrations that emphasize on the symbolization of the zodiac sign. Geolocation was of much importance. It is said that each city had a zodiac sign. You can see in each city's coins that they usually chose a specific animal, and this animal was linked with the God that the city was dedicated to.
About the Parthenon's structure. Parthenon is built based on the golden ratio phi. Where this applies specifically, is that the top of the columns and the base of the roof line are in phi proportion to the height of the temple.
About the columns, the structural beam on top of the columns is in phi proportion to the height of the columns. Note that each of the grid lines is a golden ratio proportion of the one below it, so the third golden ratio grid line from the bottom to the top at the base of the support beam represents a length that is phi cubed, 0.236, from the top of the beam to the base of the column.
The width of each column is in a golden ratio proportion formed by the distance from the center line of the columns to the outside of the columns.
The structural beam on top of the columns has a horizontal dividing line that is in phi proportion to the height of the support beam.
Also, the phi proportions that appear in the height of the roof support beam and in the decorative rectangular sections that run horizontally across it. The gold colored grids below are golden rectangles, with a width to height ratio of exactly 1.618 to 1. Phi seems to appear in the pyramid of Gyza too.
The columns of the Parthenon aren't vertical, so if we extend their lines up to the sky, they meet each other at a point, and the volume of this pyramid we just created, is the half of the volume of the great pyramid of Gyza, Egypt.
Also, each column of the Parthenon is constructed by 11 vertebrae, their diameter gradually gets reduced, with the widest part being at the base of the column and the smallest diameter existing at the top of the column and this is a great similarity with our spine. Just like we raise energy from the spine, imagine the same happening with each column.
The width of the base of the Parthenon equals to the angle of one second at the equator.
The centre of the Parthenon has the same distance from Thisio, the Pnyx hill, the Philopapos hill and the centre of the temple of Olympian Zeus. These spots are placed to the corners of an octagon.
The Parthenon is supposed to be built in a knot of energy lines and this makes it act like an emitting antenna of these energies all around. A lot of people have reported the strange behaviour of electric instruments around it. Similar rumours about non functioning instruments are related to the pyramid of Giza and mountain Olympus.
They also say that there are energy Lay lines that pass from the Parthenon connecting to other ancient Greek monuments and going to Stonehenge, to the big pyramid of Giza. Some people believe that the Parthenon is one of the most important energy points worldwide.
And this post about the chipsets:
