An Introduction to Seals

I got bored one night and decided to write a little bit of what I know about seals, Ima be writing more stuff and posting it on my blog and here sometimes, depending on how busy I am and at the moment thats not very busy. Im not a pro but I not abit that can be useful to different people.   To me everything has a vibration and to that vibration corresponds a sound, a word and symbol. Any vibration can be expressed mathematically but what I'm going to focus on here is the symbol. Symbols have advantage of being that they can be visualised easy and represent the energy you wanted to use anyway. When a whole seal is drawn, it can be very powerful because the construction of this seal represent a magical ritual. For example, when I draw it takes me roughly four hours to draw a seal of 40cm Diameter. On the downside with certain people when the seal is drawn it can become sentient and/or hostile to its user, this can usually happen when one uses symbols or energy's they do not understand fully or when a person is very powerful. Also what must be understood that in  itself the seal is a construct as much as it is a ritual. As my grandmother always says "An artwork has a life beyond that of its artist." This is true of seals if you do not want your seals to become sentient or hostile to you or anyone surrounding you then after each use then deactivate them. i personally leave all my seals active because I have enjoyed a good relationship with my seals and the energies they represent, this may not be true for all people.

Activating and de-activating seals is different for everyone and I encourage you to find your own way of doing things. There are many and various ways of doing things, it all depends on your skill level, desired outcome and whether the seal is sentient or not. When seals are left active or sentient they will continue to work 24/7 and drain you of energy. When one makes un-sentient seals they must be activated each time you wish to use them and are active for as long as you pour energy through them, so usually to unlock a seals full potential they have to be active or sentient.

When drawing  a seal, I would recommend that you have a shower first and be in comfortable clothes. Make sure you have no pressing worries on your mind or anything urgent to do. It helps sometimes to draw at night or at the full moon, certain stages of the moon help for certain energy's and seals. I leave it to the mage to decide what energy's suit what best. If you are drawing for the first time, then have patience not everyone was born an artist it has taken four years to achieve the skill level of where I am now and that's with the guidance of my grandmother and her friends who are all professional artists.
