Altar on floor?

I'm really short on furniture, and had to use the table my Altar was one for something that has to be at a height. Anyway is it ok to put my Altar on the floor? I'll put a carpet and black cloth under it.

I suppose you can if there truly is no other option, but there are some things you need to be very mindful of:

* Make sure you clean the space and and perhaps put some sort of perimeter around it (a few small stones or something; the black cloth is excellent!), something to indicate that this is NOT an area to be walked on.

* Remember it's a sacred, dedicated space so ALWAYS treat it accordingly (regardless of location).

Here's a couple of alternatives, however:

* Some people with limited space, furnishings, or privacy set up a sort of "portable altar". Get a nice box (hobby stores have them for arts & crafts storage, etc., & usually at a reasonable price) and keep your ritual equipment in it. You can remove the contents when you need them and use the box itself (lid on) as an altar base. Just put the black cloth over it.

* If you have a chest of drawers or a small table with a drawer in it or shelf under it, you can keep the supplies there & use the top as an altar (also somewhat portable, like the above, if you usually need the top for something else. Look around for something inexpensive or used, perhaps. It needn't be fancy; you can always refinish it or cover it.

* Construct an astral temple and you won't have to worry about physical space and will have the added advantage that it's always available to you no matter where you are. Astral temples are EXTREMELY powerful places to do your workings; I use mine almost exclusively. You can make them whatever you want them to be (mine, for instance, looks like a kiva crossed with something out of Star Wars) and can be changed (i.e., added to, subtracted from, "re-decorated", etc. whenever you wish; in other words they are always works in progress and when you first construct it you probably won't have every detail you want but never mind; dedicate it and use it. They "grow" over time. Fairly recently, for instance, I added a "Black Sun" to mine; it's in an area where "feet", not even astral ones, will ever touch. You can furnish it with whatever supplies you require as well. I really encourage you to give this some thought.

Yes, that's fine. It's your intent that matters. Father Satan understands. My alter, when I go outside on the balcony to do rituals, is a "portable" alter that is a shoebox, so I can put the framed sigils of Father Satan, Lord Azazel, Lord Enlil and Lady Isis on it, and a burning bowl, incense and incense holder, and candles around on the ground. I am not allowed to burn anything indoors.I plan on painting the entire shoebox black, and putting a pentagram on it in red, as well as a Baphomet.I open it, and store my altar materials inside when I go outside, and use it carry stuff back inside.
Be creative! Hail Satan!

you could make a small space in ur house where u meditate i use a big pilow to seat in lotus
or just relax on it ... this place is ideal when u use it often to go too ur astral temple from and feel safe while astral projecting make sure its secure and bless the place and etc decorate as desire i also found with my condulum a place of power in the forest and i cleaned it up have a stash of candles there and i sorounded it by blessed rocks there i do
my workings and meditate if stronger power is needed than just in the house cause of irratible factors and low energy flow and many people for instance i live in a department so many people are around and in trance i can sense all of them and its disturbing especialy if they are noisy so u might and have stronger workings and easier trance entrance if u go somhere in the forest use ur condulum  and heart to find a place of great energy flows

Wow guys, thanks so much for these replies! I have actually gone ahead with it. I cleaned the space and around it thoroughly, used section of thick carpet wrapped neatly in black cloth, and it is in a large corner so I won't walk thru it carelessly. And I live totally alone. I love the idea of the perimeter though, I'm gonna do that too. And as soon as possible I'll get a nice big table for it.
Thanks again Family!
