A question about using rosary

I really want to start working with rosary and I recently purchased a 4$ Tibetan mala necklace on Amazon and got the complete opposite of what I was expecting, so I was basically duped into buying something completely worthless, the beads are too small and the mala necklace was not even made in Tibet, it's from Hong Kong.

So the only alternate I have to these very tiny beads (less than pea-size), are a set of "islamic" rosary that my dad has lying around from his youth-days were he experimented with this foul religion. Would the gods be angry if I used this instead? I didn't want it to come down to this, but I really want to try out meditation with rosary. I haven't looked at them for a while, but I believe it's just plastic beads or something, with some arabic bullshit written on the sides. Should I just try to rub out the arabic writing?

It is interesting to read your experience.
The small beads that you wrote about parallels my experience.
In my case, I actually ordered a custom made one - but I did not take into account the tiny size of the beads.
Unfortunately I have some numbness in my hands making the ability to feel the beads less than obvious. Using the JoS design, there is a marker bead after every 9 beads and I can not tell the difference between them.
So, I ordered another one with very large beads. Problem is a full 108 bead rosary with the size of beads I ordered would be over 6 feet long. ha ha.f
I ended up ordering a shorter one that would be manageable size wise and will simply repeat it twice or so to get in the count I need.
As to the i-slob-ic rosary, maybe one of the HP's will respond about that.
I did not want to use a rosary that others had used. And personally I would not want the energy of those fanatics in my meditation.
One last thought, if it seems to good to be true price wise, it probably is. $4 is far less than you will be paying for a rosary. Keep in mind the size you need then shop for price. Most of the places I found had up to about 12mm beads that they said were "HUGE". Those were tiny for me.
You can get a nice rosary for $20 - $50 depending on what it's made of - or you can make it yourself for real cheap. If you are comfortable with plastic beads, you can get it real inexpensively.
Good luck.

<td val[/IMG]Plus if you bought it online it is not made correctly either.Better to buy some cheap beads and make you own according to the JoS site. That is what we did.
