the other night i was hanging out with some friends after work when i decided to focus on my third eye; i did it for a few minutes and began to feel a pulsing sensation in my third eye, this went off and on all night and happens now everytime i focus on it.....what does this mean?

i've been doing the basic meditations listed on the JOS website but i've been wanting to try the intermediate meditations and i'm not sure if i've opened my third eye. I feel its presence and the pressure but am not entirely sure as to if it's opened. Also, is it a necessity for it to be opened...
