I've noticed deontology has never been discussed here before, so I'm here to call this into question. What do you guys think of the Kantian term Deontology?

For me, I hate deontology as it forces a person to discard the big picture and looks strictly at the principle and nothing else.

ironically enough, there is no way to give a solid black or white stance
i personally find it useless based on it's core principle
if there is morally acceptable actions and non morally acceptable actions there is an implied consensus on what exactly is or is not forbidden. no one person should be able to decide that and a group of people will rarely decide on the exact same moral compass all of the time.
but to go further than that, in my opinion, it creates only sheep mentality. it doesnt allow intetions to matter and therefore a lot more than it seems is "forbidden". kicking someone who nearly killed you in the face is inherently your fault. it creates neither compassion nor intelect. its useless
