Hi! I've read how to get into trance in the website and one of the point states-
3. Imagine you are climbing down a ladder in the dark. Don’t visualize a ladder; just imagine you can feel yourself doing it. On the exhale, feel yourself climbing a step or two down the ladder. On the inhale, feel yourself holding still on the ladder.

So, what I understood is, when I am inhaling, I'm holding still to the ladder. And when I'll exhale, I'll climb a step or two. It is unclear to me when I'm supposed to feel like I'm climbing down the ladder?

The previous step was-
2. Breathe in for a count of six, hold for a count of six and then exhale for a count of six. Do this breathing until you are completely relaxed. Ideally, you should no longer be able to feel your body.

Do I have to do this 6X6X6 breathing throughout the exercise and during holding breath I have to feel like climbing down the stairs? Please enlighten me. Thanks.

The idea is to get a feel for the falling feeling that is related to the beginning of the trance. You can use any visualization method for that to actually happen. Breathing should be deep and relaxed.

It is on the exhale where you feel the climbing down as you climb down a few steps.

For the breath, as you go deeper into trance, you can no longer count your breaths, as the counting would distract your mind out of the trance. The 6x6x6 count is used to relax your body, your brainwaves and your thoughts, and prepare yourself to enter trance.

After you start on step 3, let go of the counting and let the breath be your guide as you immerse yourself in the feeling of descent. You wont feel your body, but you will feel your breath, which will continue on instinct.

After a while you also wont feel your breath anymore. You continue to descent until you enter a deep trance, just climbing down slowly even without the breath as a guide, which you will know when you have entered deep trance from the experience.

You may feel some resistance or a funny feeling when you reach the point that you begin to stop feeling your breath, which is where with this technique you focus on the imagined feeling of climbing down to move past that phase and enter absolute calmness, complete letting go of the body to enter the depths of your subconsciousness.

In addition to these replies, I'd like to add that Maxine's audio from the website helped me a lot when I was learning trance. On my own, I would get too hung up on the counting and the ladder as you mention, making it hard to really focus. But Maxine made it much easier to relax and I ended up having better results.
