THE FIRST STEPS...

Before one can run, they must walk, and before one can walk, they must crawl.

The first steps a baby takes on its own is typically around the ages of 10 to 18 months. At this point in time, at least in the mind of the infant, each step is attributed to a matter of life and death, because it is at least vaguely aware that a single misstep could prove fatal to itself and/or lead to injury. And thus, it pours its entire will, and being, into the mere act of taking a step forward, followed by another, and another, and another—until it finally reaches its destination; the end-point of desire.

However, fast-forward a couple of years, and the act of walking becomes effortless—quite literally, without effort. The child no longer has to consciously think about its actions, because the brain has developed thousands of motor/neural pathways to make the task as easy as possible, which is further reinforced by repetition. And over time there is less and less demands being made on one’s motivation, because the behaviour itself is closer to being an “automatic”(-ish) response.

If one were to look at it in context, it appears rather ridiculous the amount of strain and effort required to move a distance of barely a meter compared to the effortlessness through which it glides around as an adult.

Likewise, when one is at the beginning stages of their spiritual development, each step can feel arduous and take on an almost Sisyphean level of struggle and tedium, but remember this is but a phase in one’s development. It’s difficult to actually acknowledge this fact, because the majority of people are not able to envision the future, which to them, is merely a vague abstraction that doesn’t actually exist—and they’re technically right, which is why one must helm the wheel of destiny themselves, to carve out their own desired future.

I have also noticed, that the more one repeats the process, one’s perception of time in relation to the activity also changes. 10 mins of struggle, feels like an hour—compared to a pleasurable hour-long meditation session, which feels like 10 mins... Funny how that works, eh.

This also applies to the desire to begin meditation session. The resistance disappears, if one can allot a sense of pleasure to it. The more effort you put in the beginning, the quicker you’ll progress LATER ON, and the less effort required at that later point. And one feels carried along by the sense of momentum of progressing, which further motivates you to push forward. The slower you go, the less motivated you'll feel. But of course, everyone needs to go at their own pace, but just keep this in mind.

This is a message to not give up hope, and to keep pushing, and implore patience. Knowing the obvious fact that one will grow stronger so long as they continue the work with consistency, you WILL see the fruits of your labour. Only, it will not be some magical transformation that will randomly happen one day where one becomes a Super Saiyan Ultra Instinct God. You will simply look back, and notice the trail of broken glass left behind you, and smile.

A lot of the time yes, but when you're struggling and you know you're going to win? Time flies by and it's actually entertaining.

Pretty much, one gets to choose their perceptions, and weaponise them. I sort of mentioned something similar here "The resistance disappears, if one can allot a sense of pleasure to it."

"It is my desire that all my followers unite in a bond of unity, lest those who are without prevail against them." - Satan
