I am very interested in sunrise and sunset.

At sunrise, people wake from their sleep; At sunset, people gradually fall asleep. Sunrise and sunset, I think, symbolize a shift in consciousness. I enjoy the moment of active awakening from a lucid dream and the moment of awakening from a deep trance where I feel a change of consciousness, like sunrise and sunset.

I enjoy meditating at sunrise and sunset. I'd like to know more about sunrise and sunset.

Sunrise is the best time for meditations, working and working on siddhis.

This is very true. The circadian cycle is responding to sun rise and set.

When we wake up, we need to see natural light, to set our inner clock right. It needs calibration. This way also positive genes are being activated.

After sun set it‘s best to be in infra red light. like in candle light, a classic light bulb or a camp fire. This is triggering a healthy melatonin production in the body.

Being in the sun does the same. So we should go into the sun each day for some Vitamin D and Melatonin.

Melatonin in the brain is getting stimulated by the absence of light, or the blue parts of it.

But you also have subcellular Melatonin in the Mitochondria, which is much more Melatonin than in the pineal gland.
This is acting as an antioxidant, immune boost and anti cancer regulator. And it get triggered by NIR (Near infrared radiation)

That’s probably why we are so relaxed and fall sound asleep after we sat around a camp fire in the night.

Starting the day with meditation, like the RAUM meditation and yoga, also boosts our energy levels. I recorded my own metabolism before and after meditations. And after meditations in the Morning, my energy levels were optimized. So you do not only FEEL good and energized, you are actually, empirically measurable, more energized after a meditation session in the morning.

WIth the increased light of spring, life seems so much more vibrant. It may be that I was born in spring, but I believe it is the best season of the year, followed by summer. It could also be the fact that I'm Greek and I'm used to the light and heat.

How bad is it if you get very little sunshine but lots of meditation to make up for it? The tradeoff?

The weather here is terrible and so I spend a lot of time indoors.
It doesn’t have to be sunshine outside to set your inner clock. It is still beneficial to See Natural light outside after you have woken up. Even at a cloudy day.

People who live on the very north of the earth, where nights are very long, couple weeks to months, use light therapy lights in the Morning. Those lights are bright and mimic the sun light. They use this in the morning to set their own inner clock or circadian cycle.

For the Vitamin D it is easy to just supplement it. You buy those supplements for some bucks on Amazon for example.

If you want to boost your Melatonin you could purchase an infrared light source, and trigger the Melatonin within the cells this way. Even just candle lights should have a noticeable effect. So maybe just use 2 or 3 candles if u can for example.

But the very best ofc is to go out into the sun. There are probably multiple beneficial effects as well, that I didn’t mention and I don’t think of. Like the experience alone being outside and charging yourself with the sunlight of nature.

Vitamin D thing is an issue for me. Supplements would probably help, but not ideal. Similar to vegan situation where the effect is somewhat different when Vitamin D is ingested in isolation to the sun and doesn't absorb as well either.
