Hello,

I want to donate but sardine is asking for my social security number (through exodus wallet). Is it safe? I just want to make sure because I feel uncomfortable giving my social security. I want to start regularly donating.

Thank you for your time!

If you buy crypto on a secure app, and then, you donate that crypto to the JoS, yes, it's safe, BUT, I would do this as securely as possible.

Thank you for your response! I was just kind of unsure because it was moonpay before and I don't remember if they asked for social security. I guess I'll go through with it then. It's through exodus wallet so I think it should be fine.

Thank you for your time!

Don't just input your social security number unless you are very certain what you are doing is secure. Surely there's other ways to donate crypto that are more secure.

Maybe I'll try a different way then. I still wasn't sure about it and I haven't done it yet. Thank you for your input! I thought it was weird that it asked for it. I wish I could just do PayPal still.

Thanks!

Most if not all larger platforms are required to ask for proof of identification due to rules and regulations. There is nothing weird about this. The times of buying crypto with no identification from larger providers are long gone.

And do not hold your funds in the wallet of the exchange, but instead in your own wallet. This does not apply if you decide to send everything you bought right away. Your funds are ultimately not yours in someone else's wallet.

That's good to know that it's common. I was questioning it also because it used to be through moon pay which didn't ask for that but did ask for drivers license, etc. Thank you for the information!
