Greetings, I have a few questions regarding Venus squares.

First, how advanced is it? If one has an important matter and is focused, I suppose it willwork, as I've read posts by other members who were in need and they were encouraged to do a planetary square despite being new.

Second, the calendar in my country recommends this square on a day when Venus is in Aries. I checked that with our astrology site. Was that date recommended because it's in its late degrees? I think it's worth waiting a few more days and start when Venus enters Taurus.

Planetary squares are no different to any other kind of magick in terms of the basic idea. You vibrate a mantra to raise energy. What makes them powerful is the geometry they are based on, unlike a normal working, a planetary square demands a certain amount of repetitions every day, and you can't get do 1 more or 1 less as that will break the square. It is only a square if you follow the daily repetitions, if you mess it up, it works just like any other working and you can keep doing the mantra until you reach 40 days or 80, etc.

What's the difference between a planetary square and a regulat working? Is it just a difference of overall power?

Also, when I vibrate the "RR" sometimes it doesn't 'roll' but I continue the mantra as normal. In one of the planetary squares threads it said this was okay to not roll the R's but that it would weaken the mantra. I felt a "dip" in energy each time that happened, but I'm not sure if that was because of outright ruining the square, weakened power due to less "perfection" of the pronounciation, or just my own guilt/doubt of not knowing if I messed it up or not... So, is it okay or not?

And if you aren't concentrating when vibrating on some of the repetitions, will the square still work but just weaker?

It is only a square due to the sacred numerology. Just like any magick working, many other factors contribute to how strong the square is. You will have the most power if you perform it during its respective planetary hour, yet you can do it at any time. More concentration, perfect pronunciation, everything is taken into account. If you had a shit day and you weren't paying attention during your square, but you did it anyways and continued on with the days, the overall working is slightly weaker because of that event, but it is still ongoing. Does that make sense?

We can say that the sign of the planet will influence the overall tone of the square to some extent. If you can analyze the sign and the planet, and also how the planet is placed in your chart, I think you can determine the direction you need to go in general.

Also, if I am not mistaken, Venus has already entered this month in Taurus.

Are you sure you checked the calendar or JoS Astro correctly? It is not possible to suggest a square when Venus is in Aries, normally.

For a beginner, do you recommend doing the long or short form of the mantra?

As I understand it, the version of the mantra has no bearing on how advanced you are. More like it's just to save time. The full mantra can take 20-30 seconds to vibrate, the shortened one much less. This matters if you are doing one of the longer squares, where you could be vibrating the mantra upwards of 80 times.

I think I did, I used the Transit option of JoS Astro and fast forwarded to that day, and Venus was in the last degrees of Aries. But tomorrow it's going to be in Taurus, so it is the perfect time to start!
