HPS Lydia said that the Sun is in Sagittarius and the Sun square can be started on Sunday.

I want to increase the Solar energies in my soul and increase the positivity and decrease the negativity of these Solar energies, and also increase my general attractiveness by increasing the Solar energies.

I desire the fatherly, dignified and solemn behaviour of the Sun. Not the young, active, passionate side.

So essentially I am trying to achieve a more general benefit rather than a specific goal.

Spiritual or material, and can you suggest affirmations?

If those are your goals (the fatherly, dignified and solemn behaviour), then perhaps do it when Sun is in Capricorn.

Other SS such as JG Blitzkrieg have discussed about doing squares when the planet is in signs other than ruling/exalted.

Just keep in mind that the Sun is not normally "solemn". By its nature, it is a yang energy, and therefore involves action. This is different from Mars and Jupiter, but it is still not as tame as your words sound to me. This should not be feared/avoided, as solar energies are some of the most important, if not the top, natural energy within the universe. As HPS Lydia suggested, what you are asking sounds more like the Sun in Capricorn, although you can try both Squares, as the Sun in Capricorn will be much tamer regarding the traditional elements of the Sun. It is also important to note that if you want Capricorn-like traits, then just use Nauthiz instead of a Sun Square.

A human father is traditionally defined by the energies of the Sun, Saturn, alongside Mars, so that is why you might be trying to achieve a mixture of these characteristics, however it is better to use separate workings for this, in my opinion.

For an affirmation, you can just use something like "My [natal] solar energies have been permanently improved in the most positive way for me." This would give you the most of what you need, whether it is masculinity, personal expression, vitality, ability to make wealth, etc.
