When I dedicated my soul to Satan I gave up video games. I also weened myself off YouTube steadily. Now I only watch it if the gods direct me to a video.
After completing a 90 day discipline working and working on myself I hardly resemble who I was 9 months ago. I am young and trying to get my life together right now. I am far more productive than I have ever been.

But now I suddenly have the desire to regress back to my old ways of playing video games and getting lost in fictional worlds. Is this a curse? Or is it some forms of negative karma rearing it's head? I'm wanting to know what might be causing this.

If you want the massive benefits of living a productive and disciplined life, you have to be willing to sacrifice your old lifestyle. Sacrifice is necessary, you have to give up something to get something else. There's a reason you're tempted to go back to your old lifestyle, it's because it brought you comfort and pleasure. That's the sacrifice you have to make.

The more you will be disciplined, the more it will be natural and easy, you just have to keep going and embrace the initial boredom. Once you will start seeing the benefits of being disciplined you will be much more motivated.

Also, you can have balance in your life. You don't need to be a monk. You can still enjoy life a couple of hours everyday if you can afford it.

Video games are harmful because they condition the brain to receive pleasure from low effort. However, the genre and theme of these games appeal to different people and tastes, based on the energies which an individual may employ not just for entertainment, but for other aims of fulfillment, like creativity, building, competition, and so on.

So if you are looking for a manner in which to get lost within a fictional world, try to find safer ways to do this. Maybe you would like to go hiking, or perhaps a good movie would suffice. I cannot really answer this for you, but try to analyze what sort of desires you are trying to fulfill.
