Question #2982: Like stars moving quickly in the sky

I see them too, sometimes they simply go on and vanish, sometimes they are very fast. Once I saw one that was stationary, as I sat and watched it it simply vanished, and it was very similar to a star. Strange things huh

I have always seen objects in the sky, like stars, moving quickly and then disappearing. I am not talking about Elon Musk’s satellites.

Can be some other satellites? Can be the ISS (International Space Station)? It's hard to tell anything just based on "I saw some moving lights in the sky".

Well, I agree with Larissa here. I cannot really say what these are, but here are some possibilities that could explain such sightings...

Meteors for one, also known as shooting stars, causes a streak of light as they burn up due to friction with the air. They often appear suddenly, move swiftly across the sky, and then disappear. Meteor showers occur at specific times of the year when the Earth passes through debris trails left by comets. An example is the meteor shower Orionids, which occurs between 2 Oct - 7 Nov. You can check out the meteor shower calendar 2023 for more details.

Secondly, space debris from satellites or other objects in space can re-enter the Earth's atmosphere, causing them to burn up and create a streak of light similar to a meteor.

Thirdly, depending on various factors like distance, altitude, and lighting, airplanes can sometimes appear as bright, moving lights in the sky.

Of course, UFO's are a possibility, but these sightings are more rare than a regular sighting.
