I originally posted about this in the questions thread, but I do not recall seeing a response to my question. I have my eighth house sun in tight conjunction with Algol. I have read that sun conjunct Algol increases the likelihood of a violent death, and I know that the eighth house in astrology is also associated with death. How concerned should I be about this?

Don’t place too many concerns on it or stress yourself, the whole chart and your growth as a person matters. I have known some people to have some negative prominent stars in their chart and generally do just fine. For example 25 degrees and 15 degrees of Leo in a friends chart, have known her since childhood. She’s been prone to some misfortunes in life, but not necessarily outside of the normal range. She use to be extremely offensive to people and got into a few fights but she’s overall normal now. Just seems that the darker sides of Leo came out. She’s also incredibly funny and beautiful and strong. She could still use some help in the way she talks to people.

I am not sure how to read into the possible death of a person at all yet in astrology do I can't comment on that but what I can say is do the sun Square a few times. Watch for spring Equinox in some areas of the world the sun is at 0 Aries on Sunday during the day this would be a great time to start it make sure moon isn't void though I do not remember if it was any of that time or not.

Anyways affirm something about your sun being strengthened and negative karma removed.

Also for issues in your life look at what this rules for example the house cusp (or possible cusps in the case of an interception somewhere) with Leo on it. This is the area of life it effects. You may see the themes of violence there or traumatic events from everything I heard from someone else who also has Algol on a planet. If it's not something important like the 1st or 7th house cusp or 11th or worst of all the 4th or something this may not be extremely obvious. In that case leave this be and work to protect yourself do the sun square to offset some of this etc. Otherwise work to overcome what it represents. Algol can be used in creative pursuits and more deep things passion sexuality getting to the top in things etc from what I read if you notice this energy in your life try to channel it more positive.

I don’t think that having a fixed star 15 Degrees in Leo would make too much trouble, as they are not as strong.

HighPriestress Maxine had said that 15 Degrees of Leo is a Degree of misfortune in form of Blindness and Deafness, and gave an example of a woman who was both blind and deaf (physically).

I have noticed that 15 Degrees of Leo can also make people deaf and blind in another sense, in a sense that they do not see reality as it is and don’t listen to advice given to them and hold on to their own perception of reality. Maybe this has overall to do with the „pride“ of Leo in general which can make people „blind“ in a more metaphorical sense.

Not at all, this path doesn’t allow any fear.

This path has to do with harmony, beauty, letting go of the old self, fearlessness and becoming a warrior in the positive sense.

Fear causes disharmony and is a shackle that won’t allow you to progress.

To be honest it depends on the person and level of evolution in their soul. A very low level person may be turned violent or towards negative things by this alone. This degree has a very bad energy. The last couple of years when the Sun is on this I notice that. It kind of feels neptunian and violent at the same time and kind of dirty feel to the energy. I don't think I would say this couldn't be a big problem. In some people yeah it won't be.

I have something at 25 Leo it only comes out when I get really drunk I end up sort of becoming aggressive etc but outside of that i am usually a really nice person. It may depend on how the person grew up or was taught too.

If it was me writing this I would add something about possible problems with drug abuse or criminal activity under 15 Leo. Just going off the energy of it. Doesn't mean people will have problems all the time though.

Leo deals more with being pride, standing in the spot light, ruling people, valuing the own self, arrogance, showing off, etc.
Leo makes people arrogant, makes you want to show that you are better than other people, gaining high positions and public acknowledgment, and wanting to prove you are in the right even if you are not.
I believe that this can make you appear to be blind and deaf, as I know someone who is like that and has something important on there, he is blind and deaf in a metaphorical way. (Also pisces and neptune can cause this out of delusions)

It doesn’t have to do with drug abuse at all. Pisces and Neptune are there for drug abuse, especially when aspected by Pluto.
In the 1960‘s there was the big hippie and flower power movement, many people did drugs. During this time Neptune was is Scorpio, and had a sextile aspect to Pluto. Scorpio rules over Pluto. The 8th house ties into Scorpio, and also rules over the hidden self, like emotions, secrets, spying, spirituality and the subconscious.

If someone has had problems with drug abuse and criminal activities, I would guess that Their Neptune is either a ruler or co-ruler, has an aspect to Pluto. And if they are into criminal activity they prolly have Pluto/Uranus aspects in the 12th or 11th (plus Uranus retrograde).
This is what I would say if someone told me that about them, if I was a betting man. :p

Maybe the transit sun makes an aspect to Neptune at 15 degree of Leo in your case?

Anyways, just like in magick, everything in your natal chart has to do with energy, the right spiritual practice and advancement will set off many things. He can also have energies which set off this to a certain degree.
For advancement fear is a shackle that won’t let you progress. Plus, Everything in the natal chart is a tendency, this doesn’t mean this will manifest to begin with. If you are afraid and keep raving about the damn 15 Degree very bad degree you might even manifest it yourself.

This person doesn’t need to fear but to advance. And this is not dependent on the 15 degree of leo Placement, but applies any ways.
That’s why I told him not to fear, as this is a shackle.

You try to tune into this energy yourself if you don't believe me. Yes it is fire energy and about Leo and the self pride arrogance etc But certain degrees of certain signs do tie into other things. 15 and 25 Aquarius Scorpio and Taurus is bad sometimes too in a similar way its just Leo is the worst here. The 15 degrees don't know but with 25 Degrees I am assuming cause of Square and opposition and conjunct aspects to algol in all these signs.
Which does have an energy that can tie into drugs and alcohol.

You have to pay attention to the energy of stuff individually.

Thank you for the kind words, a lot of people have malefic degrees and fixed stars in their natal chart (like your friend) but certainly not all of them end up manifesting their most negative implications.

At the moment I'm doing a Jupiter square, however I will keep your sun square suggestion in mind for after I'm done with Jupiter squares. I have Leo on the cusp of my 12th house. I like your suggestion about how Algol can be channeled into more positive pursuits, I found it rather annoying reading astrological websites discuss the negatives of Algol, but not about what should be done to sublimate it to more positive ends. I realise that this star doesn't exactly have a great reputation, but dwelling on it is not useful either.

I think the best way to go about it is to be aware of this fixed star's negative inclinations, but as you said I shouldn't spend time unproductively fussing over it.

Yeah it seems like it can play out metaphorically. It’s her chart ruler(s)

Blind to all advice is pretty accurate. The only way I’ve been able to help is by being an example. She’s pretty jealousy driven and if I’m doing better she will suddenly want to be better. I had to separate myself from her for a long time. Pretty tough to deal with. She’s sane though. Overall.

Ruling the 12th house this probably isn't going to play out in an obvious way in the physical. The only thing is possibly being mentally unbalanced sometimes or thinking dark and violent thoughts having a focus on violent things etc.
But anyways yeah work on it. Channel it positively. Wait till sun is in Aries if you miss Capricorn. Neither Aquarius nor Pisces are much good for sun square.

I totally agree, you need a very special approach for those people, you can not explain it to them as if they are normal, or they won’t listen and won’t understand. :p
