How much time should we allocate to cast a spell?

Previously, I tried for 20 minutes for 2 days to cast a spell, but I was not successful. I did the steps of raising the energy, programming the energy and directing the energy exactly as described. I think the reason for my failure is that I spent little time on magic. How much time do you think we should allocate to cast a spell?
